I guess that means the movie shows us who will replace Optimus a Prime as the new leader of the Autobots just like what the tv promo for the film says. Because the movie shows us only one will become the new Autobot commander and who will it be? Is it Ultra Magnus or Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime? That’s because even when Optimus Prime’s toy is discontinued in 1986, two new toys Ultra Manus and Rodimus Prime were introduced to tie in with the film. Ultra Magnus is a white redeco of Optimus while Rodimus Prime has the same last name as Optimus’.

Spike is like a new fan that went all in on finding out the lore.

Well, in the movie, Ultra Magnus says to Optimus, “I’m just a soldier. I’m not worthy.” But he really was a great leader throughout the rest of the film until Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime replaces him during the final battle of Cybertron against Unicron at the end of the film. Optimus Prime says “An Autobot shall rise from our ranks. And use to power of the Matrix. To light our darkest our.” This meant that an Autobot will rise against a great evil that’s even more dangerous than all the Decepticons put together. And defeat an evil menace with the power of the Matrix. And besides, Ultra Magnus is a white redeco of Optimus Prime because they’re like brothers. But even though he’s the only character introduced in the full-length film based on the cartoon with an Earth based alt-mode, Ultra Magnus was already an adult in his debut. But Hot Rod was teen at the beginning of the film and in season 4. And He was an adult when he became Rodimus Prime. Ultra Magnus and Hot Rod were right. Saving Cybertron, Earth, and the rest of the universe could be the Transformers’ darkest hour to light. And at the end of the film, the entire Lithonian population of Lithone, Shockwave, Reflector, Gears, and an unknown number of various unnamed Cybertronians were avenged and Unicron was no more but a floating head that orbits around Cybertron. Yes. I did mentioned Shockwave, Reflector, and Gears because Shockwave’s death was cut during production but fully recovered in the IDW Comic Adaptation of the film, Reflector was shown to be blasted by Unicron, and Gears fate remains unknown since his toy was discontinued because he possibly wouldn’t catch up to Jazz and Cliffjumper when Unicron destroyed Moonbase 1 even though he died during the Battle of Autobot City in early drafts of the film since his actor and character appeared in the credits of the film because Don Messi luck should have voiced Gears, Ratchet, and Scavenger in the film.

Because Magnus was chosen by Optimus, but Rodimus was chosen by the Matrix. That is foreshadowed in the scene where Optimus dies and Hot Rod catches the Matrix.

How come Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime became the chosen one instead of Ultra Magnus? Ultra Magnus replaced Optimus Prime. And Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime replaced Ultra Magnus.
