Damage control. Truth is nobody at Hasbro even know who that is, just current story editors who have obsession to insert her everywhere thinking that she will stick with the fandom.
The others would be among the characters of “Who’s the Boss?” and “Full House”, maybe also “Little House on the Prairie”

If Hasbro give Dash really love. She will have very many songs singed by her own and her 1st solo will not be in S5. But in S2 or maybe S3.
The order here somewhat aligns with the Full House intro:
RD = John Stamos (the “tom-boy”)
TW = Bob Sagat (the Straight Man)
PP = Dave Coulier (the jokester)
Rarity = Candace Cameron (the flirty teenager)
the other two and spike and discord are otherwise random-ish (outside of Spike likely being the Olsen kid)

Rarity, Applejack and Fluttershy are slightly less important, for obvious reasons: Twilight is a purple magic princess, Pinkie Pie is extra girly and pink, Rainbow Dash has a great design and is multicolored. Hasbro loves them
