@Aelvir
Why was it that the stuff that was supposed to justify her OOC that scene (all the stress/stakes, near death/danger, and her friends screwing things up pushing her character traits past their breaking point) not enough? What more should she have gone thought to make her actions understandable enough to be acceptable?
But that scene still exemplifies why ANG was better received than The Movie, that if failed to satisfactorily convey what was supposed to justify her actions means the high stakes story was so not a fit for the work that the justifications couldn’t be conveyed, thus the lower staked ANG was better.

Don’t forget about the rest of the new characters introduce in the 2017 film. Even though most of the notable characters are not ponies. But we see some new background ponies that we didn’t see in the first seven season of the cartoon.

It’s not the predictability that hurt the 2017 movie worse, it’s it also trying to do non-predicable things like be darker and Twilight’s actions. The predictability and non-predicable negated the validity of each other leaving the rest of the movie hollow, unlike G5 which is predicable but lacks what broke that approach in 2017.

Why do you think the darker/serious/actiony episodes of the show were so popular but it didn’t work in the movie?

Well….I don’t agree with the New generation don’t have predictable plot is clearly have but let be honest for 2017 movie to get under 50 on Tomato score is just not fair at all. Is a good movie but the New generation is better. Both of them have predictable plot.

Gee I don’t know Twi maybe because the new movie didn’t have such a generic & predictable plot & writing like the 2017 one did. Not saying the 2017 movie was bad, it was average for what it was, but the new film completely blows the old film out of the water.

Lunar Supporter - Helped forge New Lunar Republic's freedom in the face of the Solar Empire's oppressive tyrannical regime (April Fools 2023).

Maybe because they actually put effort into their movie and said, “Let’s add some substance to this franchise.” The 2017 movie didn’t do that.

I love how the OP screenshot deliberately wipes the number of reviews just to fit into his own agenda.

Also turns out that the Twitter account source is the same one who obnoxiously begs EQG to come back literally almost everyday, mainly for feet.

I gave possible reasons in my experience. I’m not understanding what you mean by that. (That fans gave reasons Hasbro listened to? That fans are now saltier about the 2017 movie because they had time to realized said reasons?)

Yeah. Except that the 2021 movie is technically not a sequel to the 2017 movie despite the new movie having some elements and facets from G4 as some hidden easter eggs and/or cameos.
Background Pony #A4D6
Well 2017 wasn’t the same as 2021, also, both are good in each their own rights.

Well, there were only 4 Equestria Girls movies. And why we didn’t get to have a fifth? This whole question about when will Equestria Girls return and get a proper ending to spin-off series needs to be having a fan back lash and fans denting letters to Hasbro. Just like what Transformers fans did after watching the Transformers movie because of the saddest moment of the entire movie as well as the entire franchise of when Optimus Prime was killed by Megatron.

Being the “only movie” doesn’t earn it any points. It still has to be good, and it kinda… wasn’t. My biggest problem was the characters were dumbed down, except for Twilight, who got blamed for doing a reasonable thing in a desperate situation. Besides that the main plot and the music was just average. There was nothing that stood out as a great moment.

Meanwhile I loved all the main G5 characters, and it had some truly wonderful scenes and songs. It impressed.

  1. Because the rest of the movie’s moments were mediocre/done better by the show that they were unable to offset said bad moments.
  2. It had so little of the shows continuity by that point it might have well been separate. But enough of it that newcomers/non-fans were unable to fully enjoy it.
