It looks to me like you tried to freehand the vector paths and then wrestle the vector handles into shape. For me this never works because I rarely get the handles in the right place, or wind up with too many of them and quite rightly end up with a sack of potatoes.
 
My preferred technique is to plot straight lines, just single-clicking on where I want a corner or where I think the apex of a complex curve will be. Once I close the path, I convert the lines to curves and one by one move the handles out to where I need them. Then, if the curve is continuous, I convert the corners to smooth (which shouldn’t alter the positioning too much since I already eyeballed a straight line between the handles). It’s a little difficult to visualize, but the result always ends up smoother and more efficient. You should give it a try.

ok, srsly, the shape of the head is a bit off and the ear has gone wrong, find another pic of what you are trying to do and use it as a reference. the body and legs are pretty good but the back end is a bit lumpy.
