1. Don’t get tempted by a monkey centaur thing with horns just because it knows how to say the word “friendship” and betray the cute yellow pony who tries her best to defend you the entire time.
2. Don’t throw a hissy fit just because: Your friend has another friend, you have to hang out with other people to play Dungeons and Dragons, and you weren’t invited to the opening of a school.
3. In the event which you do throw a hissy fit against a school, don’t summon a bugbear to chase the students to near death and insult the substitute principal like a douche.
4. Do not, I repeat, do not gather other villains to create a challenge for your future leader, especially without careful supervision and close attentions toward said villains.

Honestly I think they kind of did it already. Discord actually helped motivate Twilight sometimes and he did it pretty well. He was like a more chaotic good mentor or advisor to Twilight that pushes her to do the right thing.(Even What About Discord did it pretty well even though Discord gaslighted Twilight. Three’s A Crowd was just Discord being a dick though) I really wish Discord did that more often instead of all the “Discord is being a dick” episodes, especially after being screwed over by Tirek which seriously disappointed me. I actually wished really hard he was just tricking Tirek or something especially since he made a point about doing it for Fluttershy. Discord is pretty fucked over by the writers but nah, I get kinda mad everytime I see his face and I’d rather focus my anger on something that isn’t real.

I honestly also have a headcanon about the finale that doesn’t hurt Discord’s image and make him too overpowered. Just have him spy on the villains instead of pretending to be Grogar. And either Grogar knows he has been on their tails and suck his powers with the bell, or Grogar is actually more powerful than him because he actually created him, or both. That would actually explain Discord’s origin and makes sense because Grogar was said to have created monsters. Then either Discord only has teleportation left or he runs away like in canon and tells everypony everything. This way Grogar would be real and be shown how great of a threat he really is. And it’s a better end for Discord. He may have failed but he tried his best to catch the bad guys. I’d say his redemption would be complete if that had actually happened. Maybe I’d be less mad if I only think about this headcanon when I see Discord, but too bad, the canon still exists and that still makes me mad.

Yeah ill admit that having him spy on the villains would have worked just fine instead of having him make a huge mistake for those who saw it as a final nail in the coffin who already were on the fence with him. I do see what they were going for with him being grogar though, trying to deconstruct his being the trickster mentor. I do think that it is a interesting concept maybe shouldn’t have had it at the end of the show, at the end of his arc as we dont see what character development comes from this. And could have been used to have him grow as a better teacher or not let his arrogance get in the way and think things through more. I do think that it still does show character development on some level despite how one may feel about the actions he took…
