Some history lesson: The “Changelings in the comments” thing was based on “Chrysalislover” account. He’s basically what amount of today as “Evan555alpha” of yesteryear in that he’s basically appears on most of Chrysalis tagged pics. Not to mention all the impressive Chrysalis merch he was bought.
 
Somewhere in early 2016, he announce in his deviantart that he’s no longer “desire” Chrysalis, sold basically all his Chrysalis merch, and moving on to something else.

The fact that Chrysalis is actually irredeemable according to the show makes it that much more applicable, in my eyes.
 
Regarding the exact comparison, people do tend to be more whitewashy towards actual villains, as opposed to the more petty jerks, especially if they’re both female and attractive, which are the case with Chrysalis.
 
It’s been obvious that you can’t please everyone, whether it’s regarding redemptions or the lack thereof, among a long list of things, ever since Twilicorn.

Exactly. I remember when this picture was originally uploaded to Ponibooru, about a day or so after A Canterlot Wedding aired, and the implications are just as true now as then. A lot of the complaints about the show aren’t exactly new, and they all had their genesis in season two and three.

That’s an interesting headcanon, but how would such a strategy differentiate between gold diggers and mares that are legitimately interested in him? If anything, wouldn’t it ward off the latter more than the former, since the former would have more to gain from continuing to pursue him?

If this hasn’t been done already, I’m going to play advocate for Blueblood.
 
What if his spoiled brat persona what exaggerated in order to keep someone he could’ve perceived as a gold digger off his back.
 
I mean Season 1 Rarity could have very well been one of those girls who would befriend and/or marry a rich guy because they were rich. Blueblood probably had to deal with people like that in Canterlot, so he probably has no choice but to play up his spoiled tendencies in public.

Chrysalis is my waifu, but I freely admit to having a supervillainess fetish. I do not claim that any aspect of it is rational or would end well if she actually existed. She still makes me go HNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG, though.

Blueblood being a creature that feeds off hate would explain a lot.

Blueblood expected something for nothing. He didn’t pretend to be pleasant at all (at least Joffrey can pretend)  
Now this isn’t horrible by any means but that’s where his character ends.
 
Chrysalis had presence and flair where Blueblood had none.  
And someone else said it best, Blueblood isn’t villainous enough for villain appeal but also has a shallow personality.
 
It’s more about presentation than content in this case.

Chrysalis at least has the excuse that she was born into an evil society and was obviously raised to be the way she was. She’s living up to the proper standards of a Changeling. That doesn’t make her any less evil, but it does mean that it’s not exactly surprising she’d be that way.
 
Blueblood, on the other hand, grew up in Equestrian society where being a douchebag is frowned upon, but he decided he was going to be a douchebag anyway. He made the active decision to be an asshole. While it doesn’t make him worse by an objective measure, morally he might actually be more despicable. I mean, he grew up related to someone who considers friendship a field of study and still acts like a selfish twat.
 
Of course the biggest sin Blueblood commits as a fictional character is that he’s a one-trick pony who’s a lot less INTERESTING than Chrysalis is.

While Trixie was a bit of a bitch, the Ursa incident was all Snips and Snails being stupid. As far as the differing reactions to her and Blueblood, though, I’d say it comes down to status. Blueblood is rich and a total dick. Trixie is a showmare, which likely doesn’t bring home the bits, and even if it did, a life on the road can make one emotionally hard. Yeah, she’s still a bitch, but she’s sympathetic.

What I don’t get is why Trixie became so popular when she was not only a total bitch to the town, she almost managed to destroy it with the whole ‘Star Bear’ fiasco.
 
The two played their roles well as a conjurer of cheap tricks and a High and Mighty Noble respectively, and yet Trixie is the one everyone falls in love with.
 
While yes Trixie sort of has a reason to get revenge and return, Blueblood shouldn’t have just been pushed to the side in the Fandom. Jerk or not he is the Prince and there is a good chance Twilight or Shining has ‘some’ kind of history with him given their statuses.
 
Maybe an episode to where they try and out do one another in impressing Celestia, fighting like two siblings vying for the attention of a single parent.
 
Or maybe they make Blueblood hopelessly in love with Twi, but runs into her brother like a Ralph Wolf and Sam Sheepdog type scenario, Shining always bashing, beating, and making sure Blue didn’t get anywhere near ‘Twily’, forcing Blueblood to go to more drastic and progressively hilarious schemes to ask Twi on a date.
