Cant hold it back anymore
Let it go, let it go~
Turn away and slam the door!
Well it was Rarity’s own fears and insecurities which made her the best target. Also it’s been made pretty clear that Luna is hiding something, so there may be a deeper connection between her and the Nightmare Forces which has yet to be revealed.
It still makes me see the whole matter of the two sisters fighting being just… not there any more. From reading it, Rarity’s motivation for the transformation isn’t there as much as the motivation was given to her and she was then possessed. What?
Was this a new thing that Luna wasn’t aware of, despite apparently being a force that had existed in the moon for a very long while? What does that tell you about Luna and Celestia and their ability to deal with what looks like a pretty serious threat if they just keep coming back for more after being blasted with “the most powerful artifact of the land.”
It just leaves a bitter after taste if they are essentially Discorded into this rather than them willingly taking on the black and renders much of the conflict contrived in the main series.
Sort of, although it must be noted that smoke appeared to target the vulnerable and insecure so it still fits well enough with the idea she was jealous and vengeful which allowed it to get to her, or perhaps she even allowed it knowingly. Either way it’s been pretty blatantly obvious for awhile it likely wasn’t ENTIRELY her. After all the elements purged her, but they didn’t kill/imprison her like pretty much every other just actually villainous character.
It also makes her fairly quick forgiveness seem more plausible if she wasn’t entirely in her right mind and was being influenced by something. Indeed having “the nightmare” being some kind of separate quasi-demonic entity has been such a brutally common trope in fan fic for so long it’s nearly cliche. Although to be fair it likely got that way BECAUSE it made sense and there were hints about it already. Really I see nothing much new here beyond confirming a fairly common and logical bit of fanon.
Do you know that this is a all ages comic?
I’m absolutely okay with this.
Until they add wings where they don’t belong..
Bah. Then they have seriously weakened the foundation of the transformation Luna had, because now the blame lies on the magical space smoke…
it was a “corrupted by dark forces” type of transformation.
i know, i found the thread and read the whole thing.
Hopefully they won’t have a d’aww moment between the two and never speak of it again like they did in secret of my excess.
>Spike is wearing Fire ruby on his neck
I call it again: Its Secret of my Excess all over again
Evil’s not exactly aiming high at this point.
It’s being sold on Wondercon already…and someone posted the entire thing on /mlp/
