I doubt it. I think it’s more grief about Fluttershy dying of old age. The whole “loss of magic” wouldn’t affect Discord in a major way. Even if he somehow loses his powers, he won’t lose his memory.

The tree in the cover … is it the harmony tree? The young Izzy is out on an opening where we can see hillsides not far away, and the forest where Bridlewood is located is quite densely packed with trees. The cover is epic, as it was at this moment that a bond of friendship was born between Izzy and Sunny. And with the harmony tree nearby …

Discord’s gone bad again?! 🙀

Do not think so.

So far, # 2 and # 3 have revealed that this Discord is not the same Discord we remembered from the G4, first of all he mourned the passing of his friends - which is not a little strange since many centuries have passed between S9 and G5 . Secondly, he wanted to get rid of the active magic even though it means he can not stay on Equus. We saw this in the G4, where the lack of chaos magic, magic cancellation and non-magical environments can make him either disappear or lose his magic. His “shell” is magically created and depends on magical backgrounds to exist. And third, he ran away rather than fight, causing no “Discord trouble” as remembered from the G4.

It is possible that Discord simply went crazy completely and may have “forgotten” anyone between Fluttershy’s death and the return to Equus, and was not mentally stable. His motive for getting rid of the magic might not be explained if he did not even know why, only that it was necessary. I do not buy it if the motive was just grief. It’s possible that Twilight, Spike and Fluffy are still out there in the G5.

Why Discord? Why not Spike? Spike was the closest with Twilight.
