your current filter.well its hard for a society to accept change. especially one this drastic. not long ago people did not like electricity or the light bulb. same thing happened with the car and the internet
It could be a creative direction.

So it would be fair I guess. It would look really bad to make only earth ponies to bad guys, but I guess it would make more sense since earth ponies can’t actually use magic and stuff.
I’m talking about what @Wayneponeth said about Unicorns and Pegasi that hate magic returning.
Other than plain bigotry or jealousy like Sprout? No idea.

cause it wouldn’t be the first time we got unicorn and pegasi antagonists in mlp
Not really, one from the top of my head is Suri Polomare. Maybe Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon but that’s not the most. Trixie is a unicorn, Gilda is a griffon, Flim and Flam are unicorns, Iron Will is a minotaur, and Lightning Dust is a pegasus. There were not a lot of earth pony antagonists.
Most of the minor antagonists in g4 were earth ponies now that I think about it.
i know, i just hope they didn’t try destroying them, if they do then all of the magic would be gone!
