I mean they didn’t gather those “friends” and be so irresponsible they have to opportunity to almost destroy the world. And yeah, I do find it strange they listened to the real traitor among them.
We’ll wait until the comic comes. But it’s implied by the writer that he ain’t doing it out of malice or that it’s half-baked this time. Sure the crystals are implied to only be affected by ponies but if not, wouldn’t that mean Discord won’t have magic too? He won’t be powerful, just as weak as even an average earth pony. Why would he do it for that reason?
Side effect? Pretty sure that’s like the main effect of everything he has done. I mean he probably doesn’t even know what he is even doing. I mean why else would he not want the rest of world to have magic? Obviously so that he would be the only powerful creature in the world and would be unstoppable, or who knows? Maybe he did something so bad which is the reason magic disappeared to begin with, and now he is trying to cover his track like he swept his consequences under the rug by turning the 3 villains into stone.
As usual it’s a side effect. If anything, he probably shared the same sentiment as Posey. They’re better without magic. Without a item that’s both their strength and their undoing.
Justified for what? Making ponies fall to their death and crushed by statues? Of course he is ruining another good thing and still hides secrets behind his back.
Except this time it may be justified. I’m sorry to say this.
