It’s a criticism of the Make Your Mark special. At one point Zipp brought up that magic was glitching to the rest of her friends. They all just ignored her and went back to the frivolity of preparing for their party. Sunny, seemingly without any evidence, directly tell Zipp that the magic glitching isn’t happening and vaguely hand-waves that maybe ponies are just bad at magic. No one other than Zipp seems even vaguely interested in studying the crystals.
