I thought you were complaining about Rule #4 and the Rule #6 comments on this image. I’m sorry for the misunderstanding. There’s no automated system for watching for downvoting abuse, so please report images you suspect and a volunteer will check it by hand.

Um, yes. How exactly would one report users who abuse rule 6 and downvote based on content? The votes aren’t public (which in itself is fine).

Also, please don’t twist my words around, it’s not a good look. I was suggesting ways the conflict could be reduced, not “locking down my images”.

Rather than locking down your images, we’d rather lock down those people. Because anyone breaking Rules #4 or 6 on your images is almost certainly doing it on other art as well, and if that’s how they’re going to behave we’d rather that they stop using the site.

Please report the offending comment or user and we’ll get on it.

That would be an enormous change to the core of the site. If you want to propose new features, there’s this thread for this site or you can submit a request for the Philomena project.

But since the comment section already went off track, I’ll reiterate:

I’d also appreciate it if you could take my comments forward, because there’s a whole group (category?) of artists who are subject to constant rule 4 and 6 abuse. It’s just blatant when a piece has several alts and one is in the 300’s and the other in the negatives in terms of score, especially when all the tags to filter are in place - it’s not about the quality of the work itself, it’s about the content. There are plenty of examples.

It’s not like there’s a silver bullet and I believe people should have the right to express their opinion to the greatest extent, but a rule left unenforced either becomes pointless or a double standard. Having certain content explicitly opt-in, with the understanding that you can only blame yourself after you check the box, would probably go a looong way towards making things better. An “I don’t want to promote this on the front page” button would too.

Where the whiner is a “true anon”, that is, someone without a profile, all we can really do is ban them. But we try to make the ban informative. If it’s someone with a profile, we do try to talk with them, sometimes for years, to get them to use filters. Sometimes it works, which is a happy result.

Weirdly, the BP whose comment was deleted wasn’t here for your art, they were stalking another user who just happened to post on your art.

Re: skip the front page, I think that’s actually a requested feature. I’ve seen the dev team talking about how to do that, where the “front page” is user-configurable, and everyone can have a different number of images on the “front page” and the “second page” is merely an abstraction. It’s not impossible, but it is non-intuitive, but the devs have mostly been fighting the Chinese and Russian bots, and the various vandals and spammers hitting the site this spring. So, “would love to haves” keep falling behind the “we won’t survive with outs”.

Getting back on topic and off meta things, this really is a beautiful work. You’ve absolutely captured the emotion of the piece very well, with an incredibly sensitive touch.

You have a very well developed emotional camera.

Nah, it’s tagged correctly. Glutenfree is only when a piece doesn’t have a “gross” version at all. It would get really complicated to have alts split between tags and would just lead to people endlessly “fixing” the artist tags.

Yeah, I guess but I’d rather see people be encouraged to actually use the filters. Maybe only start dishing out bans when they turn the filters off and go back to complaining about filterable things. Or maybe they could make certain content categories explicitly opt-in, that would probably help (most people just pick the “everything” filter because they’re lazy).

I’m extremely pro-freedom of expression and freedom of speech, but I have to admit it gets tiring to constantly be on the receiving end of the vote nuke.

Another thing I’ve suggested is having a check box “Don’t post this on the front page” that you can check when you’re uploading something gross. A lot of the stuff I post really doesn’t benefit from that attention. But they weren’t really receptive to that.

Maybe there should be.

Mods handing out bans would fix this problem.

Aside from very few exceptions, every single piece of mine has a clean version, sometimes there are several clean versions. The clean version is almost always posted first, and it’s linked with a LARGE thumbnail in the description of the more fetish oriented versions.

I also make sure my stuff is tagged properly, especially if the piece contains something I know most people will not enjoy.

I’ve done what I can. Beyond all this, I can’t stop people from looking at things they don’t like. Why they actively choose to keep looking at things they don’t like, I have no idea. Ditto on why they refuse to use the filters.

It’s a mystery.
