Um, Myoozik? I believe that has to do with the orientation of the Earth compared to the Sun as opposed to magic. After all, during summer months the days get longer, and during the winter months the days are shorter. All due to the Earth being tilted at an angle.

Something tells me that, between the events of G4 and G5, the Equestria solar system changed from a ‘geocentric’ system to a ‘heliocentric’ system, more like the real life Solar System. Hence why the planet of Equestria seems to rotate around the Sun normally without any magical intervention.
(Come to think of it that makes a lot more sense than the dumb ‘Princesses control the days’ thing that they tried in G4. I felt like, out of all of the nonsensical elements of that series, that was the most nonsensical).
