Description
Anyone who disagrees with me on this is clearly just a butthurt Faust-hugger who hates character development and doesn’t like when the show messes with their headcanons.

Too long please I don’t understand
What is your definition of generosity? giving material things? Why do you think “give in” and “give up” start that way? Because they are based around giving something! Don’t try to downplay it just because it’s something usual, so is being honest, or loyal, or kind, or whatever Pinkie is. And taking care of her sister wasn’t the generous act, it was taking time from herself so her sister could have some fun.
She only lied about RD, and I don’t think that was the catalyst of Rarity’s appreciation. We were shown that the Canterlot ponies were interested in her hat, and after meeting her we saw them eating what Rarity ate, liking what Rarity liked, and bought what Rarity bought. To think that that was all because of lies would be ignoring Rarity’s class and taste. This has nothing to do with the topic of Rarity’s generosity, but I just wanted to explain why you’re wrong.
Why she didn’t tell them that about RD is pretty obvious, they wouldn’t have cared anyways. What do you think people like them would be interested in. War heroes, Olympic athletes, Record holders, or people with a good business reputation?
Did you not read what I wrote or what? She was afraid of upsetting her, she didn’t want to risk that. Choosing to go to another party had a high chance of being upsetting, regardless of the reasoning behind it.
If it wasn’t clear, I was pointing out that your idea of counter-arguing that Rarity defending her friends was something generous, was talking about her actions before in the episode (with a bias of them being completely bad). and it also turns out that you were misunderstanding what I said (again). The generous thing was not admitting to lying. it was completely jeopardizing a mostly-deserved chance to improve social status, and thus, her business to defend her friends. She could have just left with them, or tried to get on good terms with both her friends and the Canterlot ponies, but she completely sided with them just to further her point that, in the end, those are her true friends.
Every episode will make the ponies look somewhat bad (after all, they can and will make mistakes), and ultimately good (they will also learn from them). After having talked already about S&E, all I can say to you is that if you disliked MDW because RD was being arrogant, let me remind you that it’s a pre-established trait of her being arrogant, the episode just made it part of the plot.
I’m being facetious of course.
Twilight was the lynchpin of saving ponykind multiple times (in other words, if it weren’t for here, there would be no setting, since everyone would’ve been wiped out after Friendship is Magic)
Rarity certainly helped save ponykind, though I don’t think that it qualifies her for alicorn status
You still trying to say that’s a sign of generosity? People sometimes have to do things they don’t really like and would rather be doing something else. That’s just life for you, there’s nothing special on generous about that. I don’t where you live but at least here taking care of your younger siblings is kinda expected. Not something only a generous souls do.
Yea, everyone was following her opinions and she could just be her honest sel-NOPE let’s lie to get them to appreciate me. I also wonder why other ponies seem unaware of the heroic things the mane6 does though. Why did Rarity lie about RD? Even if those snobs didn’t know about how they saved everyone and all that, why couldn’t Rarity just say RD is a fan of the Wonderbolts? It wasn’t impressive enough? Best young flyer and only one able to do Sonic rainboom? Sheesh..
Why wouldn’t Rarity place trust on Twilight? Why couldn’t she just say what she was doing instead on lying? Wouldn’t that be just upsetting, finding out your friend has kept lying to you all this time.
I really don’t know what you tried to achieve with that last part what you said. What I said was just what happened in that episode. She got caught by her lies and then had to admit it. How the hell is admitting that you lied a generous act? That’s what this thing was about. Not sure if it was you or someone else that said that it was generous of her. “Yeah I lied to you all and to my friends too lol I’m so generous for admitting it”
The reason I didn’t like that episode is because it made Rarity look bad. Just like Mysterious Mare Do Well made RD look bad. I really dislike that episode too.
Who is Celestia’s father, you’re wondering? Well, isn’t it obvious? The time-warping lovechild of Rainbow Dash and Blueblood. Where else do you think the rainbow mane and royal bloodline comes from?
I do, however, mind the episode that inducted her into that position as, save for a few musicals, was not as entertaining or as well-written as it should have been.
Twilight’s “final test” was fixing a spell? Come on!
You are so, SO right. First I wondered why Rarity didn’t just do that. I mean, she doesn’t have to lie and say that Rainbow Dash is the trainer of the Wonderbolts. She’s even better - the Element of Loyalty and only pony to perform a Sonic Rainboom. How do these Canterlot dodos not know who she is? Did they miss the celebrations thrown for the Elements of Harmony? Then, I realized that Rarity had to lie and the Canterlotians had be clueless for the lesson to work. Logic was sacrificed so that Rarity could learn a friendship lesson.
“Sweet and Elite” was kind of a dumb episode anyway. Why does Rarity even have to make up a bunch of stuff when she has the very real accomplishment of saving the world twice under her belt? A claim that can be backed up by Princess Celestia herself?
I mean, Rarity made up some impressive lies, but they kinda pale in comparison to “Each and every one of you would be stone cold DEAD if it weren’t for the actions of me any my friends.”
-She wasn’t licking anyone’s ass, quite the opposite. The rest of Canterlot were following her opinions and taste.
-Her social status was important. It opened the chance to improve her business. Even Twilight thought going to the Garden Party was good for Rarity.
-She didn’t just decide not to go to Twilight’s birthday. She considered it almost as important as going to the other party, just because it was her friend’s and she cares about her. If you actually think about it, she has a point in her choice: missing a friend’s party for good reasons isn’t nearly as bad as others think, it was her fear of upsetting Twilight that made her lie.
-Let me point out that what you said didn’t help your point at all. You only wanted to badmouth Rarity, dismissing what she did at the end with a vague “she admitted it”, and focusing one some (not so) low points of her throughout the episode, ignoring the fact that pretty much everyone on the show does that.
2 .Yeah it kinda looks the same. Which means….. nothing.
1/10 since you made me respond
however the message here is the inconsistency of twilicorn not reasons to make rarity princess
Spending time with your sibling? Yeah that sure is a huge sign of generosity. (sarcasm)
And defending her friends? Are you perhaps talking about that episode that made Rarity look like huge liar? Where she lied about and to her friends just to lick some snob asses? Where she decided not to go to her friends birthday party and didn’t even finish the dress she was making for her friend because she thought that her social status is more important? Where she kept lying to the very end until she finally got caught by her lies and finally admitting it?
Sounds about right.
Giving in to Sweetie Belle’s demands both in Sisterhooves Social and Sleepless in Ponyville
Potentially giving up the chance of a good reputation in Cantelot by defending her friends.

“Faust said herself that if she had it her way, there’d be only two alicorns.”
“I know that they made Cadance work, but it’s a slippery slope if they keep making ponies of a race that is supposed to be ruling just something that happens. “
““More like “defeating the entire purpose of why alicorns are the ones in power.”
I’d be fine if this were temporary, though.”
Yeah, you totally saw it coming.
Considering she’s still just a filly who would have to depend on her parents regardless of economic status, and think it’s Twilight Sparkle and not Diamond Tiara’s friend who’s the Silver Spoon of the show.
That makes her “friendship lessons” sound more like brainwashing.
Celestia is not omnipresent. She saw Twilight’s potential for magic and chose her to be a princess. Also, Twilight Sparkle used a “change destiny” spell so we may never know what her destiny would have been if Celestia hadn’t interfered and micro-managed every fiber of her existence.
Rarity is rags to riches. Twilight Sparkle is riches to bigger riches.
You know, Princess Celestia is the closest thing to a god in the mlp universe, she’s probably able to read peoples destiny and shit and when she discovered Twilight being destined to be a royalty she decided to take her under her wing and teach her all that there is to know to make it easier for Twilight.
Only the normal kind.
@Itsthinking
And now that makes it so that Cutie marks and destiny are some sort of scheme by Celestia to keep everyone under control…
I’d rather have S01E16 Rarity in charge than S02E03 Twilight Sparkle.
