Yup, entirely in 3D. Atomic Cartoons (Beat Bugs, Mighty Express, LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special, 101 Dalmatian Street, Hilda) will help Boulder Media with the series’ animation. Atomic will do the CGI designing, Boulder the rest. That means the G5 series’ animation will be a mix of Atomic’s 3D series and Go Jetters (a 3D children’s series animated by Boulder).

Jesus, G5 sounds like a mess so far if I’m honest.  
Several rewrites, and now going against the original plan to have only the movie be 3D.

Izzy’s design is definitely my favorite design, I am still quite miffed on her horn design though, I’m definitely not a fan of that. Because of how FIM was, her horn looks completely fake to me and like it was just something she tacked on cause she wanted to be a Unicorn. Other than that, she looks great and so far from early previews, her personality looks the most enjoyable to me.

Keep in mind that this is movie only. After this, their designs will be similar and tried to be maintained as close as possible, but after this movie they will be going 2D like FIM.

Can’t say i’m exceedingly hyped about the new gen, but the characters do seem pleasantly expressive and animated.

I’m not feeling anything for the Gen 5 ponies yet, but that’s mostly because they’re just empty characters to me so far. I’m sure once I’ve seen them in action in the movie that could easily change.
