Eh, chances are they won’t reference that many aspects from G4. For one thing, because of IDW, I had the impression there’d be no mention of Ponyville, Canterlot, or Cloudsdale in any animation. The current settings are, as we all have assumed, places which had gradually usurped the roles of their G4 counterparts over the course of hundreds, if not thousands of years. :3

True, people have a right to have their own ideas on things, and even post them if they so choose. But then, that’s a double-edged sword, and I have the right to respond to them if I feel like (and I only feel like it when it seems like they’re acting like their canon is the actual canon)
There’s no harm in having your own ideas. I for one am choosing to believe that G5 is a different universe to G4
That’s fair - it more just seemed like they were trying to assert their own canon was actually canon, which is a non-starter for me.
Could be just be their own AU that they are following instead of canon? Sure they could have been a bit nicer about it. But I don’t see anything wrong with following your own made up canon instead of the real canon, as long as you be respectful about it. I follow my own made up canon and no one’s saying anything
I mean, keep telling yourself that, if it comforts you, but pretty sure you’re wrong.
That doesn’t mean G5 can’t still reference, choose to deliberately parallel, or do “spiritual sequels” said events anyway, you know.
