I haven’t watched that G3.5 special (I’m, admittedly, quite uncultured to My Little Pony outside of G4 and G5😆), so I wouldn’t know how much G5 adapted from it for Winter Wishday. I can believe that it’s a reference, as G5 has referenced the older generations before. But Disney is kinda the first thing I and others think of when we think of kid’s media promoting the magic of wishes, even if they definitely don’t have a monopoly on it. They’re who I thought of when I was watching the special.

Actually, the wishing thing was a reference to G3.5’s “Twinkle Wish Adventure.” It’s not like Disney has a monopoly on wishes.

The way the special relied on wishing as a theme definitely felt very Disney-esque. It almost bordered on parody.
