The other two races also have wide-spectrum marks, and the ingenuity to MAKE their marks fit whatever they intend to do.
 
Rarity got her mark finding gems, and putting them on dresses, but she has a large number of really great talents, too. And that’s just one.
 
I still think this comic and its line of logic is demeaning and insulting.

It’s kinda obvious that nopony in general can do a thing as well as somepony who has a cutie mark talent for that thing, but Earth Ponies tend to have special talents that relate to entire categories of activities rather than the specific focus that Unicorns and Pegasi tend to get; it’s not that they “can’t also do all those things”, it’s that it usually takes an Earth Pony to do all those things that well. It makes perfect sense given the establishment of Earth Tribe as being the agricultural backbone of Equestria, since any kind of agriculture requires mastery of a myriad of different skills, and the very nature of cutie mark magic makes specialists of most Ponies. Twilight, for example, is so unusual in having a Mage special talent that we’ve essentially only ever seen one other “magic in general” Unicorn in the show.

I never liked this comic.
 
I mean, she’s implying that the others can’t also do all those things if it’s not their talent.
 
Which is stupid, and contradictory to canon.
 
ALL ponies are amazing, and this comic (and others similar to it) feel like they are missing some big things…
 
Doesn’t help that some of the ones that play the racism card for laughs often fall flat.

When Daisy gets pumped up, she can spit small metal balls really fast, Roseluck is a time traveler and can control Timber Wolves (but only the bad ones), and Lily is quietly constructing a functional recursive anti-magic field generator cannon underneath City Hall so she can knock Cloudsdale out of the sky, because she’s an electrothaumatic engineering genius but also kind of a racist.

Everypony knows that Earth ponies get an extra feat at character creation.

A well done comic.

I can absolutely grant you that, but she still doesn’t understand the basic principles of supply and demand.

Moral of the Story: Never underestimate an Earth Pony. They have a lot more potential than anyone can possible imagine.
