The part about Misty having a hard time, potentially, letting go of Opaline completely, I can see, but I think you’re giving Opaline too much credit if you think her actions here are about anything other than keeping her minion in line.

Sure it is, couldn’t be any other way under these circumstances. I just thought that maybe right after this the Mane crew discovers them and with Opaline defeated Misty would have a hard time adapting to the fact, since she is her caretaker for Celestia-knows-how-long.

Was going to leave this before, but forgot - honestly, this is not a terrible spot to end this story off, for a somewhat depressing yet open-ended ending (where it could be that Opaline succeeds in hooking Misty back in, or Misty succeeds in breaking free of Opaline’s influence, or the thread with Dahlia informing Hitch about Misty comes up again and he/the Mane 5 show up).

I think it’s less actual comforting, and more just manipulation, to get her hooks back into Misty

You know, with Opaline comforting her how, I can already see how it ends.

Eventually Opaline gets the power and the Mane 5 confronts her. She gets mad with power and tells the ponies in their face that Misty has been her “child” all along, and demands to battle while Misty Being too scared and stunned to do anything. They we’re neck and neck, but eventually it was Sparky who (after Being saved by probably Hitch, arrived) delivered the final blow by blowing his fire. Instead of Opaline obsorbed the power, the fire engulfed her and she vanished in the flames in a howl of pain.

While the Mane ponies celebrate and continue their investigation, she was still stunned by the fact that Opaline is now gone, probably dead, and she can’t seem to get the final good conversation or the hurt out of her head…

Which is a bait for another sequel, but if you want to stop here you don’t have to continue. Just let her be happy and that’s fine.

Feeling pretty uninspired. This may or may not continue. With chapter 4 releasing soon, I find it hard to see the point. I’m struggling with everything lately in general. Can’t seem to draw nor think.

This is a captor reasserting the bonds of control that they have over their victim. Misty needs to try and escape, and soon, before she loses her nerve.

If only… if only. I don’t think Misty has that much hate in her heart.

Let them be like this for a bit, because despite the circumstances, this is indeed a nice moment.
I hope she acts likes this until Misty actually fell asleep or at least talk out her feelings like Opaline said before.
If she doesn’t, then she really doesn’t pay any attention to the ponies despite watching them all the time.
The point is if there’s one thing she has, then it’s patience, and she should have the patience to wait just a bit more. They all have feelings.
