I mean, I definitely think Opaline heavily twisted the story, but I do think there are grains of truth - it could be that Celestia and Luna thought they were being kind to Opaline, but she didn’t see it that way (like, she saw the greater attention that they got or something and it created a festering jealousy), or it could be that they were friends but then Opaline felt betrayed when they went to go preside over Equestria.

Yeah, it may well not have been Celestia and Luna ignoring her, but other Alicorns, it’s just that the millennia have twisted her memory into it being them since she was closest with them, but also saw the greater attention they received, and then the feeling of betrayal when they left for Equestria.

minor correction if we take the books (not comic books) to be canon celestia and luna didn’t start moving the sun and moon until after they became princesses.

It wouldn’t have been wrong if were other ponies who treated her badly, but here she’s specifically referring to Celestia and Luna who would never have acted like this even as fillies.
Once again it’s connecting things to the G4 characters that causes problems…

In my opinion, his story was not completely false. I say that he was not really noticed. This is one of the reasons why he is bad with Misty. In fact, he sees Misty as a version of his past self. Opaline was like the other horses in the past, but since these did not get him anywhere, he decided to be evil. I also have other theories:
1 Opaline was an orphan or had a bad guardian.

2 Her hair was white even as a child, that’s why ….

Tempest and Starlight almost destroy the world while being unicorns because of childhood trauma. Let’s see what this little bean can do!

I didn’t like the story that Opaline became evil because everyone loved Celestia and Luna.
It’s too similar to Luna’s story where she was jealous of Celestia and because of that she became Nightmare Moon. Besides Luna knows how it feels to be in someone else’s shadow, and I don’t think she would have acted in that way with someone in her situation.
Celestia is more likely to had a similar attitude, but she isn’t a bad pony and neither would she hurt anyone else’s feelings knowingly, in fact she didn’t realize it when she was putting her sister in her shadow.

The story here is told as if in reality they are narcissistic bullies and that here Opaline is the victim of the situation and everything that happened afterward was their fault.
Of course when they were young Celestia and Luna were immature, but not that bad, they weren’t chosen as princesses just because they knew how to move the sun and the moon, but also because they were able to maintain harmony between the ponies.

I think that too. This whole story it must be another Opaline lie, because Celestia and Luna are out of character for no good reason. It seems that Opaline is ready to make up any story to discredit all the previous Equestria rulers.
