Description
Hey everyone,
Today will be the last of the redesigned deer to be posted in this run of pictures, and this one is pretty unrecognisable from her previous appearance here.
Birch is a 42 year old doe, who, within Hazel’s squad, played the twin roles of cook, and medic. Known as the only member of the squad that had any experience with ponies and their culture prior to the expedition, she was a wellspring of information and advice for her teammates.
Working as a maid for much of her life in Equestria, Birch was lucky enough to end up working for a family of minor Equestrian nobility, and that role was also where she picked up her medical skills- specialising in treating burns, and other basic first aid.
Birch is a widow, and has a young daughter named Hawthorn who was being looked after by her sisters for the duration of her mission- but is now living with Birch in Ponyville.
Hawthorn’s father, Poplar went missing during a routine foraging trip, and has never been seen since, the tribe presuming him dead- possibly devoured by some wandering abomination. He was a devoted father and husband, and the entire tribe grieved his loss bitterly.
Now, many years after the loss of Poplar, Birch finally feels ready to move on, and wants to feel love again. She couldn’t care less about the species of a suitor, only that they treat her with care, patience, dignity, and respect.
Birch was technically armed with a spear and shield during her journey, but towards to end of it, she would be equally likely to use her heavy cast iron skillet that she named “Homewrecker,” which, for her, performed the dual roles of cooking food and cracking skulls, a task she took to with appropriate gusto.
Nowadays, “Homewrecker” is kept unused under lock and key in her Ponyville home, and her spear and shield were destroyed at the end of her mission. However, she still has her maid’s outfits, and out of habit and familiarity, regularly wears these garments.
Birch, like Willow, has come to despise violence, and has become, in her case, a quiet and introspective doe of kind words and sweet actions, who just wants to live out her remaining years in peace, and to see her daughter grow up.
Good to know I can hug her ^^
