BUT THAT’S WHAT MAKES ME THE PERFECT QUEEN!
TO FIX A CRYSTAL HEART / CRYSTAL HEART AU

I’ll write a detailed thing +post the other characters designs later but!!
This is my MLP AU staged around the end of G4, and then G5!! It’s basically about how Equestria fell into a divided state, and how magic was taken from the ponies.
Essentially, Flurryheart effectively replaces Queen Opaline, in a sense. To properly explain WHY she decided to try and take the magic for herself.
I felt like Flurryheart and Lusterdawn were completely discarded in favor for current nonsensical lore so! Here’s to my take on the story. Cozy Glow included :]

I have no words on how ridiculous that is. AUs don’t have to work? That contradicts what an AU (alternative universe) is: “An imaginary realm, often a variant form of the real world, depicting a different way events could have unfolded or the universe could have functioned.” But yes, this doesn’t have to “work” apparently. Because terms used for the longest time can now mean whatever anyone wants them to mean.

this is an alternate universe. flurry heart replaces opaline in it.
Then why would a replacement of Opaline have the same name though? Realistically, Opaline would still be born as the unicorn Opaline was not as. In that scenario a corrupted Flurry Heart would just give herself a different name. It would help as the whole Opaline is actually Flurry Heart theory is still rampant despite being disproven. It’s fine as an AU but using an AU Flurry Heart and calling it Opaline makes about as much sense as having an AU Nightmare Moon version of Cadance and calling it Nightmare Moon.
I would also be inclined to agree on that Luster and other characters were discarded to quickly yes, but I wouldn’t say G5’s lore is completely nonsensical outside of the Unity Crystals and the retcon of Earth Pony magic.
