Also, I’m not saying Celestia should feel like Spike’s mom. But she should feel some sort of connection. She referred to him in Lesson Zero as “Your friend Spike.” Not “Spike.” This shows a lack of familiarity. And that just doesn’t seem right at all.

  1. So, because the egg was in the possession of Celestia’s school, she should feel like his mother even though Twilight was the one to actually raise him, probably with the help of her family. Yeah. Right.  
  2. How is this relevant to my question? And ignoring the M6 minus Applejack’s families at all times, once-in-a-blue-moon cameos notwithstanding, kinda has been a thing since S01E01.

Two things.  
  1. The egg was in the possession of Celestia’s school. That makes Spike her responsibility. You’d think even if Twilight’s Parents were the ones to raise Spike (which I think they were) she’d at least feel some sort of connection and responsibility towards him. But nope. This is why I can’t take the “Celestia is Spike’s mom” theories seriously. Everything in the show contradicts it.  
  2. How many times has Twilight praised Celestia? How many times has she praised her own mother? How many scenes show Twilight and Celestia having a close moment? How many scenes show that between Twilight and her mom? It may not be Celestia’s fault, but Twilight treats her more like a mother, more so than she has ever treated her own mother.

Yeah, this always did kind of leave a sour taste in my mouth. Despite what Word of Faust says (which ultimately amounts to very little at this point), Spike has never been treated like a son by Celestia in the show. She has always treated Twilight more like her daughter, even though Twilight has a mom.

Nah, she’s just got two moms. No drama here.  
Also, if you take into account the events of MMC, Celestia’s sorta the “mom” of her alicorn form.
