I think that actually fits quite well. That the element of empathy is one that actually has to put effort into being empathetic.

Not smashing the face in of someone you are ticked off at isn’t “nice” it’s called, “sanity.”

We’re talking in the context of Misty being abrasive with others and getting what she wants. The Misty that could act somewhat selfish in her pursuit of her cutie mark. That’s a different kind of boldness than the one she used to stand up against Opaline. (Who she even enpathized with by saying she felt bad for Opaline for not understanding how friendship works.)

I like to imagine Misty as a kind hearted sociopath. One who means well and tries to help others but lacks the empathy to connect with others and so often does and says the wrong thing.

Yeah, I don’t think it fits her origin. She would be somewhat abrasive and impatient cause she never learned how to interact with others or be in a dominant position. She always just followed orders.
I do also hope she regains some of her prankish nature at some point.

I would have liked to see Misty being the more abrasive one. It fits her origin and how she was characterized before. That she wants to get things done since she grew up being uncertain rather or not she could.

I think one way to solve this may be…let Opaline try dealing with this.

Misty can tell Opaline there is a creature with Reality-Warping Abilities and if she Kills that Creature, she can be powerful again. She can later tell Milkway there is an Evil Alicorn Blah Blah. The point is luring Opa and that yellow-red Fox into a solo Kombat. Then Main point is let them fight, and no matter who wins, it is a win.

If Opa wins, then Cutie Mark stuff is not a problem. If Milkway wins, M6 has one less enemy to deal with. Win-Win either way.

Multiple times? She only sought out to talk to her once before, and she wasn’t allowed a word in because Pipp and Zipp immediately confronted Milkyway and didn’t let her talk. It’s not like Sunny has actually tried to talk to her, and when she did she didn’t have the full side of the story.

I get that with Panini it worked to shame Milkyway, but I still feel like Sunny could be able to tell that this probably wasn’t the best approach, because again, she’s a naturally empathetic pony and her first approach has always been to kindly talk things out. Hell, she’s usually not the kind to be firm.

She did do that. Again I reiterate that everything has been going wrong for all of them constantly and Sunny has offered and tried to talk with her multiple times.
Those haven’t worked so they are trying the method that worked for panini.
Besides she’s not being cruel here like in the bridge scene, this is just firm

I don’t think so. Sunny is a character who’s consistently been portrayed as very empathetic. When she’s dealt with close-minded, stubborn people like Sprout, Posey, Blaize, all of the Maretime Bay citizens, she still always spoke to them with kindness, warmth, understanding. That’s one of her most likable traits, that despite being an activist, she doesn’t jump to judge others for being close-minded and doesn’t see them as bad, irredeemable people. And I can’t understand why Milkway would be any different, especially because she has even more justification for her actions. I think Sunny’s first instinct would’ve been to ask nicely, like, ACTUALLY ask nicely. Let Milkyway know that they understand that she doesn’t want to be perceived as a failure again, and that she doesn’t have to, that neither Sunny nor her friends want to shame her or ruin her, that she doesn’t need to be and shouldn’t be defined by a mistake that she didn’t commit from a place of malice.

And I feel like the reason the comic doesn’t do this is, well, it’s very clear that they’re trying to elevate Misty, and use this story to showcase how she “sparkles with empathy.” But the problem is that all of The Mane 5 have been characterized as very empathetic themselves, so for a situation where Misty can really come across as the most empathetic pony in the room, while already being surrounded by very empathetic ponies, is to give The Mane 5 a good reason to think someone is irredeemable. And this works with Pipp and Zipp, who have been severely burdened by their cutie marks being switched and have every right to assume that Milkyway always intended for Pipp’s wish to go south. But Sunny, Izzy, Hitch, they haven’t been nearly as burdened by her, so characteristically any of them could be able to empathize with Milkyway, not just Misty.

I agree with you in the izzy bridge scene. That was def really harsh of her.

Totally agree. And this is the second time the comics have made Sunny act uncharacteristically angry and harsh.

Okay… after reading that recent issue and i just feel bad for Milkyway. She really had good intentions despite she’s pretty radical with her ways to make everybody completes their wishes but… seriously Zapp can’t just say “oh, my sister’s job is hard, i shouldn’t understimate her and appreciate more her job”? She’s really so proud? That wish isn’t really that hard to complete unlike Panini’s one which is making a successful restaurant.

Everybody are assholes except Misty who’s smart enough to know isn’t a good idea to make a nymph with radical ways to complete wishes angry.

Why not call Discord to have a conversation about it with her? He previously does similar stuff and learn about it, so maybe talking about it to don’t make her so radical would be the best. And would be a good excuse to use Discord after his arc. And just make Zapp don’t understimate her sister’s work.

I know you will take hours to respond, so I will just say this now: I am hiding all panels associated with the ‘G5comic’ tag, simply because I will never read the comic to begin with due to me not having the ability to afford it.
