On the night of Nightmare Moon’s return, the town of Fledermaus erupted into celebration. Celestia’s portraits were burned by some overzealous bats, the Equestrian flag was lowered from the town hall, and the citizens gathered in the town square to hear a speech from Mayor Moonbeam. Purple banners emblazoned with the crescent moon hung from the town hall, the citizens themselves waving their own flags. Mayor Moonbeam’s speech rapidly approached its crescendo, his words grew in intensity and his body became more animated. “…take this opportunity, and use it to the best of our ability to seek justice for our ponies! On this night, the town of Fledermaus formally declares itself in open REBELLION against the uncaring, stagnant, and now dead regime of Celestia! Long live the night, long live our liberator!” The noise of the resulting cheers nearly eclipsed the speech itself.

The sun rose. Everyone squinted at the sudden intrusion of harsh sunlight, and the mayor stood confused. After a minute or so he was pulled away by an advisor. A few minutes later, he returned to the puzzled audience. “Um, yes, my friends! On this… day, the town of Fledermaus formally declares its support for, uh… Princess Luna, and we would like to invite her to come here. Yes.”
