I’m not sure if these terms will catch on, but I’m ready for negative responses. This is an observation I’ve noticed. Faust never wanted ponies more powerful than Luna and Celestia, so I think a lower caste of alicorns is the middle grounds. They don’t even seem as powerful.

This was just dumb even ten years ago.
no, she does she just uses a lot of hair gel.
What if each of the strands of hair on her mane wave differently?
I’m inclined to believe Twilight will control the entire starscape, but that could change next year, of course.
Also, I believe both synthetic alicorns may become stronger than the natural ones because Celestia has been training the next generation for some ultimate event in the near future, I’ve thought Cel and Lu have been steadily losing power or even didn’t have that much power to begin with, but were able to overpower their enemies through freak occurrences along the lines of every final encounter in Japanese storytelling: the heroes get beat, but hope brings out inherent power strong enough to destroy their opponent.
This brings me to something called Seal Syndrome for lack of its actual name. Thousand year old bads often get sealed before escaping in the present day world who then get obliterated by the hero of the present. This has already been demonstrated with Sombra, but is a possibility for the next conflict. In any case, what that archetype represents is the concept of a newer, stronger generation, the older one dissipating similarly to the ending of Okami.
Obvious conjecture in obvious. However, I believe the stars are important elements to Twilight’s unknown latent ability, just as much as her friendships. Cadance and Shining are also possible key elements to her progress, but I’ll leave that to a more relevant discussion.
Ooh, I’ve just thought of a way to incorporate Twilight into the ending of Bioshock Infinite. X3
I’m not saying you’re wrong outright, but you are making a lot of leaps of logic here. Without more canon knowledge, there is no way to prove or disprove your theory.
Interesting.
But that’s just my headcanon!
Harr harr…
Humans made them. 28 days later, they all died. X3
Cyber Newtype: Gain Newtype abilities through hard training.
A useless spell that grant “magic with no end”? The one that not even the greatest unicorn spellcaster was able to complete and twilight did in an evening? The “magic talent” raised by celestia herself and saved equestria 4 times in a row?
Yeah, totally an everypony feath.
well, I often refer to them as demigods, just because their status and apparent immortality. I probably forgot to type the “demi” part.
Assuming they are gods… which I don’t.
Even so, what might go to your point is that Twilight has prety much acted as Princess of Ponyville already. The coronation, at least, might’ve been more of a formality…
not yet anyway. the other five still need to be trained in diplomacy first. you have to remember, twilight isn’t just the unicorn with the most raw power at her disposal, she’s also the personal protege of the immortal sun goddess that rules their country. what you’re saying is the equivalent of saying that a fireman and a police officer that both saved a few dozen lives deserve the medal of honor, when usually a man has to save dozens of his fellow soldiers by charging headfirst into a wall of tanks and dismantling them with his bare hands to earn that honor. they’ve done quite a lot of good, but they still need to be trained to handle the responsibilities of being in the ruling class before they are allowed into it. seriously, can you imagine the bullshit their world would have to put up with with fluttershy or rainbow dash as a god? with fluttershy she’d just let any group push everyone around until all the damage that could have been avoided if she’d been a bit more stern has been done, and rainbow dash… you really don’t think she’d have one hundred foot tall statues of herself erected in the town square of every town in equestria?
I’d consider “Twilight and the Crystal Heart Spell” (and the other spinoff novels) and the IDW comics B-level canon.
The show itself is A-level canon.
I would’ve preferred for Celestia and Luna to remain the only two alicorns, not because “Faust said so” but because I just think that makes them more mythic. Still, if the show’s determined to make alicornhood something that several ponies per generation can achieve, I can accept it; it’s not exactly a crucial component to how much I enjoy the show.
@Splinter17
While Starswirl the Bearded’s unfinished spell may have been the catalyst for Twilight’s alicornification, I’m pretty sure the reason she earned it was for her accomplishments as a whole, particularly as the Element of Magic. (Cue arguments from… a certain user.) And I agree that the rest of the Mane 6 deserve the honor as much as Twilight, but that does lead to the notion of all of them becoming alicorns…
Yeah, that’s bothered me too. Alicorn ascension and how ponies earn it is just too iffy. Cadance gets to be one because she stopped a witch. Fluttershy reforms fucking Discord and gets squat for her efforts. Twilight gets wings after fucking up and then fixing a useless spell by a long dead guy. Rainbow Dash performs a feat involving breaking the sound barrier, a feat thought to be a myth, and in doing so the first two times(the first time was BY ACCIDENT, WHEN SHE WAS A FILLY) saves her friend and idols’ live and is even responsible for the other 5 getting their Cutie Marks, but does she get a horn and a fancy new crown? Nope!
