The musical parts are almost never a literal representation of what’s happening, except for most Pinkie’s songs. This is AJ’s part of the Gala song and it makes sense that other ponies’s lines are reflecting on AJ’s thoughts and expectations. Along with the exaggerated money pile it’s the reaction she expected from other ponies, not their actual reaction.
