To make an external link work, you have to put the text you want to make a link in the square brackets. For images on Derpibooru, though, you should link them by putting double right angle brackets in front of them, followed by ‘s’ for a small thumbnail, ‘t’ for a thumbnail, and ‘p’ for a preview. (You can get the correct code from the image’s page by clicking ‘Share’.) Doing this will block images that the user has spoilered or hidden, and it’s especially important if posting an image with a more explicit rating than the image you’re commenting on.

All of that is a longwinded way of saying you should do this to share a Derpibooru image:
