I understand what you say about Ace, I honestly didn’t like the episode where he is a jerk to Starlight, and she still does everything for him, and even though at the end of the episode he starts to treat her better, I still don’t buy it, that’s a bad episode.

But Teddy does regret it, and that is seen in the episode “Stand By Me” during the song “You don’t know the boy”. He shows to be mean towards Sweetheart, but then he regrets instantly. Normally I am not so sympathetic to that kind of character and more so when they are involved with romance, I don’t like that kind of ships, but I understand the nature of their character and the context he is in. When I say they are children it is not a justification, but a consideration. Unlike an adult, children can change and mature with the necessary guidance.
Teddy unlike Ace, does show redeemable characteristics, While Ace is a jerk who does not learn his lesson, and although Teddy can also be annoying, he does seeks to make amends for what he does, Again, I quote “You don’t know the boy” and the episodes “Blue Ribbon Blues” and that one about Sweetheart’s birthday.If you think about it, when he decides to do something good, it’s because Sweetheart is involved, and that makes him more likely to become a better pony if she’s by his side. That’s what I’m saying, Teddy needs to mature, and the love he feels for Sweetheart can lead him to a better path, at least that’s how I see it.

Teddy doesn’t show regret, he never apologizes, and he’s only ever “nice” to Sweetheart by fixing problems he (usually deliberately) caused. The writers may have intended him to be a softie putting up a front, but how they actually wrote him is a worse bully than Ace and a textbook example of an abusive relationship.
Bullying like his and Ace’s should never be excused, especially as “just how kids behave”

Eh, Actually, Just Fluttercord can be considered toxic in this context. Let’s see..

Even tho Teddy can be a jerk sometimes, He regrets when he does something wrong, He is just a kid who has yet to grow up. It’s also implied that the reason of why he and his friends usually tease the girls it’s because they have some kind of crush with them, which it’s a pretty common behavior on kids. Teddy even calls Sweetheart his “girlfriend” in one episode. Considering the nature of the franchise, it’s pretty safe to assume he will get more mature with a girl as Sweetheart by his side.

Now, Sprout it’s not really a nice guy either and what he did was awful, But he already got punished and has no power left, He can’t do anything but adapt to the new society. At least from that short interaction with Misty, We can say she can see good in him and that could be a first step in redeeming himself, thanks to a girl that it’s willing to give him a chance to change. It would be a cute message after all.

But Fluttercord? Even if we ignore there’s a uncomfortable age gap between him and Fluttershy. Discord seems to be obsessed with her, and most of the time he always gets his way thanks to Fluttershy. I could say more but I would be going on much longer than I already have.

Sprout needs a good friend. If Misty makes him a good pony. I’ll be only too happy. I think these two should be given more attention.
