Seems to me that would have stumbled onto what I will dub the Schrodinger Effect: Spike will then be in a perpetual state of “harmed” and “unharmed” at the same time. Likewise, you will be in a perpetual state of both able and unable to send letters to Celestia with his magic, and also oh-so-very-much in a perpetual state of both “whole” and “atomized after Twilight heard what you did.”

And yet you’re able, and indeed encouraged, to harm dragons. But because Spike is both a dragon and a kid, does that mean he both can and cannot be hurt?
