My Little Pony G5 - TV Series development
My Little Pony G5 - TV Series development
These are some development concepts for a My Little Pony G5 2D show pitch done in 2019 at Boulder Media, before the project was placed on hold.
It was a fun collaboration between myself (Character Concept Art), Finnbarr Martin (Art Direction), Piotr Bzdura (Concept Art), Paul O’Flanagan (Direction), and Gillian Comerford (Direction).MLP G4 VS MLP G5 - Character design silhouettes compared#Digital 2D #Animation #Stylized #Visual Development #Character Design #Character design #Character development #Concept art #Character poses #Character expressions #visual development #MLP G5 #My Little Pony #Hasbro #Boulder Media #My Little Pony G5 #Character exploration #Character concepts #Early development
Genuinely, I have no idea what you’re talking about anymore.
At least I can admit I’m one.
Uh huh, keep telling yourself that, just like how you keep telling yourself you understand TYT despite not having watched it.
You’re just proving my great point. Like many others. It’s not about the individuals themselves but the people around it. Maybe that’s why Sunny feels like a different activist than others.
Great point there - the poses are so super relevant when the image is demonstrating the different body types, and the simple truth that without the manes and tails in silhouette, you can’t tell the G4 Mane Six apart (sans Twilight) but you can with the Mane Five apart in that circumstance.
Nonetheless, don’t skew data and by extension don’t excuse the skewing of data. Biasedness ruins truths in favour of the personal truth.
Nah, I agree with the BP, it wouldn’t have made a difference.
Then you don’t understand my point on a better comparison with certain control factors that I put less than an hour ago.
Uh… If the G5 had standard poses, it wouldn’t make much of a difference. G5 will still have an undeniably more noticeable difference in body structure. Even if you gave the G4 and G5 characters horns and folded wings, the G5 would still be the most diverse 🤷

I can understand that, but I feel like a more neutral approach would get the message down across easier without stepping on people’s toes. I get his reasoning that different body shapes does add more to a character and makes them more unique instead of doing copy and paste, and I agree. Also, I don’t know if he knew about this, but there was also the fact that G4 was made using Flash which meant that assets could be reused with no problem which explains why the character models looked so similar. I don’t blame him for not knowing that if that is the case.
I’m also trying to respond to this without being passive aggressive, so I hope it doesn’t come off that way. I think Naccari does understand that. However, Naccari is a 2D character designer for Tell Your Tale, so he’s not going to be talking about the acting in his art portfolio since he didn’t work on any of that part of the production. He’s going to be talking about the the parts he actually worked on and can use as reference work, which were the 2D designs and how that conveys the personality.

Yeah. I love G4 more than I love myself and my family, but I also think that G5 is better when it comes to characters having different shapes and sizes.
Are you sure about the second paragraph?
Yeah. They’re such nutjobs, right?
