IMO the show started out good then gradually decayed into meh. It was the massive amounts of filler during Sinnoh drove me away.
 
The games are better. I think my least favorite is Gen 4 because it really brought nothing new to the table, but it’s still decent at worst,

Hell the whole IIIII WAS OOOOONCE A MAAAAAAN thing is still ref’d on Joe forums.  
It certainly beats what happened to GI Joe after the movie at any rate.

It was basically like The Fly in reverse. Also nothing in the movie was anywhere near as insane as the show. It just felt that way because you got stuck there for 105 minutes instead of 25.
 
Like, there was an episode where the Joes and Cobra were shooting a Hollywood movie together, because of course the real footage just wasn’t action-packed enough. Naturally, despite calling a truce Cobra still keeps trying to kill the joes. Which makes the scenes even more action-packed and harrowing and makes the movie succeed even more.
 
Then there was that time they robbed the banks of New York by flooding the entire eastern seaboard and going all Hard Rain with jet skis and motorboats.
 
Really, some of the least insane shit since the initial 13 ep run. But it draaaagged forever.

It could have worked on its own, but there was too much unrelated crap with it. Joe movie seemed like they tried to stick elements of every major blockbuster out there from Conan and Krull to Rambo to Land of the Lost in a single movie.  
If they’d made him turning into a snake a result of one of Mindbender’s screwups (remember that radiation and ‘medicine’ could do anything in them days!) it would have functioned a lot better. Turn it into one of those ‘enemy mine’ scenarios since CC is such a better alternative than Destro (at least for the Joes) heading Cobra. It would have at least given them a reason for the new mask. It would have fit with the ‘cobra civil war’ arc at least.

They made the mistake of treating G1 Transformers like a comic book really. At least they realised their mistake and brought Optimus and Brawn back eventually. From then on they only offed ‘bots they created to off, no more main casters got offed outside of the UK.

Then they eventually screw that up, bronies move to Equestria Girls, “Equestria Girls is a hit! Add in some mythical creature + human combos for fan service.” Screw that up, Hasbro is bankrupt, SUE EVERYTHING! (that last bit may or may not be a joke…)

Yeah, honestly I’m not bothered by it’s existence either.  
The movie is apparently a thinly-veiled pilot to see if kids dig it, and if they like the movie, they might make a spin-off. (In fact, stuff like “Chip & Dale: Rescue Rangers,” and “Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends” started out as “movie” pilots to. So it’s not uncommon.)
 
I won’t worry about it cancelling/replacing MLP:FiM though. They still need that show to sell the pony toys. ;)

Wouldn’t the animation companies that made those be mostly/partly responsible for the first 2 examples?
 
Getting a li’l tired of all of everyone pulling the blame Hasbro card. I hear they give DHX ALOT of freedom on MLP:FiM.

Yeah, EqG didn’t have that much of a negative impact on me. Besides, I HEARD that it will become a spinoff TV series, while FiM will continue on as its own thing, with season four.

So you’re saying they should’ve killed off Twilight and turned the other five into snake people?

Probably one of the biggest problems that I have with EqG is that it could have been something so much better. I mean FiM gets its first ever movie, and they waste it on a poorly disguised commercial for a spin-off toy.

The only difference between the 3 is that The events Equestria Girls wont drastically affect future Seasons of Friendship is Magic.
 
Transformers: More or less kills off the entire old cast.
 
G.I. Joe: Cobra Commander was turned into a pet snake, and some major Joes are demoted to a background character role.
 
Equestria Girls: Twilight is more confident in herself at being a Princess, and might have a boyfriend/crush ( though considering it has already been stated he is not a character in Se4 this does not appear to be the case ).

Without menctioning that the series that followed the movie was utter crap, both on the animation and writing aspects.

From my own anecdotal evidence, I think Optimus’ death was regarded as well done and legitimately dramatic. However, it became difficult to continue the series without such pivotal characters anymore.

It did happen, and Duke was supposed to die. Sadly, Duke lived because of Optimus. But Cobra-La wasn’t all that bad of a place, a little campy but did have some excitement involved. Also the movie had Sgt. Slaughter and his Marauders.

Sad to say I feel the same (the part about the fandom just not being the same). Now I’d like to hope that the fandom will still live on despite fandom bitching like the Pokemon fandom (every new Pokemon gen you’ll get your “gee_____ers” comeing out of the woodworks to bitch and moan about the new generations of Pokemon for one reason or another, the most common being old farts who stopped playing Pokemon long ago [thus not really having much of a say in the matter] and are just living the in past), but good lord the cynicism has reached such high levels these past two years.

No it doesn’t, something made for kid can, and should, be made to be good, they din’t have to be made to the same standers as shows for adults but they should try to be good.  
Saying “it’s okay for think for kids to be bad” is the dumbest thing you can say.  
Or is shows like Avatar: The Last Airbender realy not as good as I though?

Oh and Rodimus Prime is totally a douche for getting Optimus killed, I HOPE that goes without saying.

I liked EQG, for the most part. The bad parts for me were a few instances where they really needed to take an extra minute or two to unpack certain plot points. Basically people accepted things at face value a bit TOO readily and that brought it down for me a little, but forgiving that I thought the overall theme of “Friendship” came through really well.

I follow the general rule of “it’s okay to have opinions so long as you’re not being a dick about it” and depending on the situation (like this one) I also like to add “at least give it a freaking chance, if you’re opinion is either based on nothing but trailers or the opinions of others then I can’t really take your ‘opinion’ very seriously.”
 
And this goes to BOTH sides. The ones who liked EqG need to stop being all “stop hating, I bet you were never an FiM fan to begin with ya shits!” but at the same time the people who didn’t like it need not to stop saying shit like “anyone who likes this movie is just sucking Hasbro’s dick because I say so.”
