Description
Response to an EqD call for support of Jayson Thiessen. No one seems to really talk about him.
Just because you’re offensive doesnt mean you’re right
I really hope I am.
@Itsthinking
Nah. I just think he’s really busy. Making cartoons isn’t a 9-5 job. They put in a lot of very long hours, and Mr. Theissen has his daughter. (And I think another kid?) Between work and his family, Twitter should be coming last.
I think you’re reading something into this that simply isn’t there.
It’s pretty amazing that he’s on Twitter. Doesn’t say much, usually.
He’s being upfront about this, guys. If you’re thinking this tweet is somehow something negative, you’re reading way too much into it.
Jayson isn’t McCarthy when it comes to tweeting. There’s no hidden message in there or whatever.
Also, as far as him getting enough credit and what-not, I think it’s because he’s so relatively quiet and chill on social media that some people tend to overlook him. I can imagine that he’s a pretty busy guy being the show’s director and all, and also just doesn’t have time to hang out like the VAs or Sibsy does.
Plus, some people don’t spend all their free time in front of a social media outlet. I can imagine him being one of those guys.
Yeah, people seem to have forgotten about him. People have sent thanks to DHX in general, and they decorate their studio with it. I’d think they’d realize the less of a major position they hold, the less people will recognize them for their work personally.
How many people who work on FiM actually get enough credits? Lauren Faust, Tara Strong, Sibsy, that’s all. John de Lancie got more credit than he deserved, though it seems everyone forgot about him now.
Ah thx man I wonder if her band would tour with black sabbath or alice in chains that would be cool
We’re not starting this again.
All I know is Thiessen doesn’t get enough credit for the work he does.
Let’s not dig up derpygate, we all know about the stupidity that caused it. No need to re-kindle the flame…
I meant ads the people who went:
“Oh, she has a deep voice, it’s obviously an insult to retarded people.”
“No, the voice actress though she was a guy.”
“How dare you contradict me with facts! I’ll start a petition to change this character I know nothing about yet it offends me for some unespecified reason!”
“:I”
She doesn’t mind us, she performed at Fiesta Equestria a few weeks ago. It’s just that she really sees her VA career as secondary to her band.
@Deserter
All of the Derpy merchandise being produced and the prevailing opinion proves that Thiessen was right.
That reminds me of something my Dad told once:
“Just because you’re offended doesn’t mean you’re right.”
I wonder how Ashleigh bell(can’t remember at the moment)feels about us hopefully she don’t hate us
It was calling for new artwork, though.
@Grieffon
Yes, we are. Humorous, yet sad at the same time.
@The Twelfth Doctor Whoof
And yet he still talks with us.
I’m glad he doesn’t run himself ragged and worry like McCarthy does. When that whole “IS SUNSET SHIMMER REPLACING TWILIGHT?1!” fiasco happened, I thought she was just going to stop talking all together. Thiessen seems a lot more chill about it all.
@Deserter
We don’t know, sadly.
I thought it was honest.
AND I WAS RIGHT! WHO’S MAD NOW!?
Putting Derpy in the show as “Derpy” was his idea, because he wanted to show us that the staff appreciated our support. Then Derpygate happened. Since then, he’s been almost completely silent. Good to see he doesn’t totally hate us yet.
It’s actually an old piece of artwork (over 18 months old), but Calpain’s essay is new.
He pretty does the same things that Lauren did when she worked on the show. Both of them worked on this show since day one, but I’m assuming he doesn’t get enough credit as Lauren does.
“Animation… has changed.”
That reminds me, when is MGS5 coming out?
And no change came without suffering. I guess.
It’s quite a unique relationship. Never before has a fandom this big had instantaneous contact with the creators. Tiny Toons, Simpsons, Animaniacs, Dexter’s Lab, and Powerpuff Girls all came before the Twitter. They relied on conventions. Sure the staff may have lurked some fan sites, but they never would have interacted. It was actually kind of taboo.
Things have changed.
