Having also read “The Man Who Folded Himself” by David Gerrold, I think it would certainly explain a few things about why the Apple’s parents are missing in the present timeframe… that was one weird-friggin’ book. :P

Her parents just went back to their time. You know, to prevent time paradox. But before this, they gifted Applejack with hat and Big Mac with yoke.
I had the same idea. She’s just helping her prepare with fooling Trixie.

This picture and the first comment reminded of a creepy short story about time travel, featuring just one guy who some how gets a time traveling belt and keeps going backwards and forwards through time and mostly just interacts with himself…
But yeah the guy in the story goed back in time and gives his younger self a time machine, but it’s totally unknown where he got the time machine from…
