I can’t believe it took 6 seasons for them to speak and 7 seasons from us to see them interacting with there kids.

Uh… the only thing where i recall the character’s parents did not have consistent appearances, was South Park, & 1: It’s porn-comedy, 2: It’s stylized so heavily that clothes and hairstyle is the only way to tell people apart, so they might just have changed look. Or regenerates since apparently almost everyone can be\is a Time Lord, but this begs the question of why the main 4 kids are going to South Park elementary on Earth instead of the Chapter Academy’s on Gallifrey so they can be 2nd gen Time Lords, 3: even the character’s surnames are prone to change.

More that they have a consistent appearance, is what I meant.  
It’s always them and they can be clearly identified as the parents.  
And I’ve never seen the thing you describe. I don’t watch a lot. And no anime (unless you count Avatar).

Yup, not like some other cartoons or animes where you see the main character’s parents and possible siblings for 5 minutes in the first episode, then the MC gets magical powers\falls into another world\goes in a time-travel or dimension-hopping adventure\gets kidnapped by a crazy family or harem\is trapped in a weird high-school\gets teleported to another planet or country\whatever, and said parents\siblings are not seen anymore except for rare flashbacks, and then the MC gets retconned as having an “unearthly\magical” origin.

At least they appeared consistently.

Posey + Sunburst = Fluttershy + Flutterbye (Twins, with Flutterbye being the younger but easily mistakable for the oldest due to compact muscularity)  
Firefly + Bifröst = Rainbow Dash + Flying Colours (little sister, picked up by social assistants when she was very little because Rainbow Dash was abusive to her. Flying Colors is quite a bit older than the CMC, has a purplish-pink coat, deep blue hair with rainbow streaks, greenish-gold eyes, and a feeding bottle + pacifier with a bib background, for motherlyness.)  
Saiim’erah + Goodbolt = Scootaloo (Saiim’erah was a teenage filly hailing from some counterpart culture to somewhere between the Middle East and India. She was an Earth Pony with a dark orange coat, indigo hair and dark purple eyes. Goodbolt was Saiim’erah s’ much older boyfriend, Goodbolt s’ parents did not approve of the relationship while Saiim’erah s’ parents did not know about it. Goodbolt was a pegasus with a light greenish-blue coat, purplish-red hair and strong blue eyes. Saiim’erah had a religious tribal mark as her cutie mark for her beliefs and loyalty to family, while Goodbolt s’ cutie mark was a dark grey cloud with a red thunderbolt for speedyness and agility. When Saiim’erah gave birth to Scoots, her parents were angry because theyr daughter had broke family traditions. Saiim’erah s’ parents had theyr daughter killed, while Goodbolt was exiled from Equestria, and now lives as a nomad in Saiim’erah s’ land. Goodbolt also had his wings ripped and was castrated so he could not father any more children. Scootaloo was entrusted to Flying Colours because of her Cutie Mark. They bonded over being pegasi who were left by their families as fillies for very different reasons. Scoots now lives together with Flying Colours and a lot of other fillies and colts that were abandoned by their parents for several reasons, but Scoots is still the favourite! Also, Flying Colours is a teen-ager, and is tutored by Mayor Mare. The house is on the outskirts of Ponyville.)

My headcanon is that they’re not really close to Twilight. Because of that, she sees Shining as her surrogate father (since her electra complex), and Celestia as her surrogate mother.

Finally, a stallion even more quiet than Big Mac.

At least they appeared. Heck, even Applejack’s parents had the whole “pair of comets possibly implying their presence in the afterlife” thing. What about Fluttershy? We know nothing about her folks.

Did they do anything besides turn into plants because of Twilight Sparkle.

Action speaks louder than words, after all. Even if they barely did much in their last two appearances…

I guess they hesitate to give them a canon voice in case they have to do an important flashback.
