That’s the literal definition. Furries use “feral” to refer to non-humanoid animal characters like Pluto and “anthro” to refer to humanoid ones like Goofy.

InkBunny, FA _{(though I avoid the weird shit / shitty weirdness like the plague, which is surprisingly easy ‘cause there’re still quite a few actually good artists on the site)}, and a little bit of SoFurry every once in a blue moon, and I don’t even know when I last saw the word “yiff” being used in any seriousness, except for the phrase “yiff in hell,” or the “non-yiffy” FA “group” for people who want to declare their preemptive refusal to engage in erotic RPs with strangers.  
As far as I can tell, most of the fandom/subculture/whateverthef* simply grew out of the word.
 
Personally, I never cared for the word to begin with, it’s just… silly. :P

Most of the real furry artists left FA years ago, it’s mostly just weird fetish shit now like inflation, scat stuff, anime characters with cat ears, and Sonic porn. Really, 90% of the “art” on FA is so far bellow standard that it’s just sad.
 
Oh, and I don’t call letting your girlfriend access accounts, read everyones PM’s, and warn pedophiles to “try to keep a low profile” when asking for photos from underage boys as being “Overzealous administration”.
 
InkBunny has a bad side, sure, but they also have something amazing called “filters” in order to block that stuff. Something every site in the world has except FA. On FA I have no choice except to see whatever the MSPaint crap is popular at the moment.

E621 doesn’t have the social stuff, SoFurry (again, nobody uses ‘yiff’ anymore, otherwise it’d still be YiffStAr) is ancient and cobbled together and isn’t well known enough to attract many artists, InkBunny got overtaken by cub porn, and Weasyl spent so long in beta that everyone stopped giving a shit about it.

I literally can’t even remember the last time I heard someone use it in a remotely serious way. “Yiff in hell” doesn’t count.

I read the clop story that used this as its pic on Fimfiction. I didn’t like how Fluttershy was into bestiality - is it even bestiality if she’s a fairly feral pony? - but I can get into considering her into petplay.

Furries use “yiff” all the time. It’s the term for porn and sex acts. Bronies call it ‘clop’ in our fandom though.

I remember that fix. A bit weird but still enjoyable.
