The reason behind this… cause well, thank FluffyMixer for making it obvious…  
That the main character in the game is voiced by Tara Strong (I didn’t know till I saw a video by FluffyMixer, who says youtube isn’t educational!)

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

So, from what I read, the head the girl carries around was cut off while the zombie virus was new to the host body for the head. This somehow keeps the head alive, personality and all.
 
How the heck does that work, and how would it have happened to Spike?
