Ugh, that thing. Super-abridged version:
-> Pinkiepony, a pre-G4 fan on Tumblr, claimed a child in her care recognized Celestia as Molestia
-> She started campaign to kill off Molestia, and specifically JJ’s Ask Princess Molestia
-> Other artists caught on, made their own images and statements
-> Images eventually uploaded here and elsewhere
-> Links back to sources showed the artist words, and especially their followers, calling those not for DWM rape apologists, scum, false fans, etc
-> People got really mad, insults flying around both sides against everyone
-> Stuff Pinkiepony kept saying or said in the past came to light, including several rather strong insults against G4 fans, the fandom, calling for JJ’s blogs to be removed via exploits, etc
-> People got super mad
-> Petition to ban JJ from doing panels at bronycon showed up with a lot of support
-> People got ultra mad
-> Pinkiepony sort of quieted down, petition starters retracted it and said “censorship is bad too”
-> People have gotten beyond the unmadding point
-> People still throwing kerosene into the embers of DWM, on both sides, so they can get their jollies off all the mad

Someone started a campaign to get the ask Princess Molestia tumblr taken down while claiming it wasn’t about the blog but rather stopping rape culture in the fandom. People took sides and proceeded to be dicks to people on the other side of the arguement, and now it’s over.

Also, this whole “Down with Molestia” thing; what brought it about exactly? I don’t exactly follow tumblr’s happenings.

Ages ago we decided that “OP is a fag” was against rule #0 as it’s a homophobic slur (regardless of whether or not it’s used in that context); at some point someone probably mistyped “OP is a dick” as a substitute for it and the duck stuck.
Or something, I was asleep when it happened. It’s given us a few amusing duck-based memes and images, at least.

I happen to like ducks. I had one as a pet when I was a kid; they don’t poop that much. Her name was Nadine.
You wouldn’t say that if you realized that duck just pooped all in his shirt pocket. As ducks are known to do every 5 minutes or so.
