With me its because I was in the army for five years. I had a lot of firearms safety stuff drilled into my head, and I’ve actually seen people who ignore those safety rules have “negligent discharges” and do shit like shoot someone in the foot.

I don’t know all that much about guns, but if there was anything my cowboy grandfather (not joking here) made me remember from when he thought me marksmanship was to keep my finger out of the guard.
