@CocoaNut
I thought her entire story was a load of crap as soon as I read it. Let’s not even mention the fact that she first claimed that it took place in a dressing room, and now she claims that it took place in a bathroom. On top of that, rather than call for help while in a public place, she decides to “LOL TEXT IT!”.

I don’t believe anything she says. Frankly, I think she just flat out hates and fears men, and is irrationally angry over the fact that something she felt was her own personal sanctuary (liking MLP) has been “invaded” by males.
CocoaNut

For all those making claims of victory, let me say something: Pinkie Pony told a story a while back about disguising herself to go shopping and then being accosted by some bronies. In the comments section of the screencaps posted here, I asked this: If someone were to tell you that they were disguising themselves to go shopping because a few dozen people on the internet that don’t know where they live hate them (keep in mind that the vast majority of anti-DWM people are content to mock or just try to argue their point and most of the hate is put out there by anons that are clearly trying to start shit between the groups), would you think:

  1. They’re a reasonable person doing a reasonable thing
  2. They’re seeking attention
  3. They’re paranoid
  4. There’s some sort of scam going on

    And then, to the claims of being accosted, these all apply except for #3, which bumps it up to paranoid delusions.

    By the way, I’m not even going into parts of the story that just don’t make much sense, because the premise of the story should be enough to address the fact that #1 is highly unlikely.

    Personally, I think it’s either #2 or #3, but I know that a lot of people insist that it must be #4.

    Here’s the thing: For #3, it will happen no matter what. For #2 and #4, it will happen when things start to die down. What will happen? It’s going to escalate. I don’t know when, but I know how, and it’s the logical next step for someone protesting (supposed) rape jokes after a claim of being accosted by some men that (apparently) hate her. It’s likely, though by no means absolute, that she will insist that she doesn’t want to tell anyone (her father, the police, etc).

    If it doesn’t escalate, well… oh well. All of them give the option for it to not escalate, but I’m fairly certain that it will.

    I’d just like to point out that I predicted it before it happens so that, when I call bullshit, people don’t attack me for being heartless and when I say that I knew that it was coming, people can’t claim that it’s BS.

@Shintaha
The entire DWM is an insult to rape victims everywhere. I’m a woman that previously considered myself a feminist, but after this entire fiasco, I don’t think I really want to associate myself with that title. This entire crusade was poorly-conceived, poorly-executed, and poorly-managed from the get go. By choosing a target that is not even canon to the show, they essentially devalued and trivialized an otherwise serious issue. If they truly wanted to tackle this “rape culture”, they should have gone after shows like Family Guy and South Park that actually incorporate rape jokes into the show itself.

Also, you continue to assume we’re all male here. Making such generalizations is incredibly childish. Some of us are actually women, some of whom (like me) grew up with My Little Pony in the 1980’s.

I’m sorry that there are those of us that can differentiate between fantasy and reality, and can understand that there is a value of having a venue through which to make jokes about an otherwise serious topic. It is a type of coping mechanism in the mind of every human being.

Perhaps if that little girl that started this “movement” weren’t so dreadfully immature, not to mention a flagrant liar, and perhaps if the members of this “movement” didn’t spend the majority of their time trying to dehumanize anyone that even politely criticizes their methods (which, by the way, is actually more harmful behavior than anything in Joseco’s blog), then perhaps this little debacle wouldn’t be such a complete and other laughingstock, not to mention a jet black stain on the entire feminist movement. But thanks, though, for crying wolf over something pointless. It’ll be nice to not be taken seriously when a real problem arises because of frivolous people that don’t know how to pick their battles.

@Shintaha
Faced with absurdity, how should one act?

And if you don’t understand the comic he posted, I shall enlighten you:

There is a problem. “Desserts make people fat!” The solution is… what? Education? Reduction of fat content? A generally broad campaign to achieve these things? No! BAN CAKE!

The “problem” is rape. The “solution” is to go and spend time in the real world trying to help rape survivors overcome the issue, educate people to understand that rape is bad (though the presumably already know) and find ways to more effectively deal with the perpetrators of the crime.

The DWM solution is to ban john joseco because they don’t like some of his art.

John Joseco is the cake.

Now do you see?

Oh but lets not try and understand the point he was making, lets just declare that he’s fat-shaming and slut-shaming and a rapist who probably enjoys beating up women. Lets not appreciate the subtle satire, lets just declare he’s a stupid poophead and obviously wrong in every way because he’s a man, and only men can rape, so what he’s doing must be rape because we said so.

And lets not blame the people who started this campaign of hate against a single person for exercising his free speech. Lets blame the VICTIM of this campaign of hate for inciting it. After all he was asking for it, right?
Shintaha

You do realise that if John - and I am a fan, followed his artwork for a long time - had acted like a sensible and reasonable person he could’ve ended this a long time ago. Just to fucking say something.

Calling you people - not all of you, just those celebrating like obnoxious assholes - self-righteous cunts is an insult to being self-rightous and the female anatomy. Of course the female anatomy means nothing to you guys anyway because it’s just a target for you to hit lol I’m fucking out

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

Okay, the petition is over. The important thing now is to accept this small victory gracefully, and not be rude to the people behind it. Some DWM people have been vicious to JJ and his supporters throughout this, but DerpyGrooves is not one of them.
Background Pony #CA7E
Seems they took it down voluntarily after realising that trying to force JJ into a corner of a few drawings they didn’t like is a really dick move.

@Background Pony
Oh yeah, I completely agree with you on that. It’s enough sometimes to make you just wanna say “Look sweetie, I’m all for equal rights for EVERYONE. Men, women, blacks, whites, gays, and straights, but when you come up with your WOMEN POWER! bullshit, all I want to do is tell you to make me a god-damned sandwich and then slap you in the face.”

@Background Pony
Most of this wasn’t even bronies (I do agree with you though, there are some real morons in this fandom). It was older female fans that dislike G4 and its fans.
Sure, the petition was started by some misguided bronies, but the bulk of this “movement” was populated by third wave feminists who wish that they could control the Internet and what gets posted to it.
