I dunno if this is poking fun at the community or Hasbro itself – but keep in mind that many, many, many of the ponies in the show / toyline / etc are or were at some point recolors and/or slight edits of other characters
 
Especially considering the vast majority of characters have the same bodytype and are female, there’s really only so many ways you can make them different anyway, when it all comes down to it (though I’ve seen many excellent efforts in this community) – but the point is, when it comes to MLP, recolors =/= bad really, and to be frank I kinda like that cupid pony on the right

It’s kind of a cheesy maneuver, but I’m not really opposed to it. To me it’s just people having fun with something.

In the interest of fairness. There is a bit of effort in that recolor, in that it actually looks decent instead of just slapped on.
