Yeah, but Europe took the civilized path a long time ago.
Not sure what you’re referring to. A lot of European cultures based their standards of measurement off the length of a human foot, and the modern imperial/US measurement ultimately derives from those.

And no proof that their “foot” is even equivalent to our human-anatomy-based measurement unit.
Even if we have no proof that that cane is actually 8 foot long.
