They did have screen time, but they did have much importance to the story, other than… just being there?
Well, yes, but they were not as important or focused upon as they were in the Season 1 pilot… Which the movie followed extremely closely. I would even dare say copied.
I’d say I disagree, the other characters felt like they had plenty of screen-time moments, especially Spike, Applejack, Fluttershy, and the villain.
Only one I felt was very underepresented was Rainbow Dash, who’s only big scene was the brief soccer match. (Also Twilight sucks at sports is now canon.) Her dance outfit was kinda cool though.
