Uhh no, IT’s Talyllyn #1. (Skarloey) But it’s blue
Oh she’s definitely 100% from pony Wales. In my head. Long history of ponies in mining there too, so this makes total sense no really.
Though really I just like the idea of a plucky little filly Octavia from humble small-town beginnings making it big in the capital through sheer grit and raw talent. They said she’d never even hold the bow properly. Too coarse! Too clumsy! But that summer evening she proved the snobs all wrong with a solo that enraptured even the princess herself!
Also the show needs a wider range of British accents.
Wait a minute… Are you saying that Octavia is Welsh in this headcanon? Because I’m pretty sure that this is based of the Welsh country-side.
Nice Ivor the Engine reference there. I always was a fan of the works of Postgate and Firmin! ;)
I have actually started writing up a short history for this railway, much in the style of Matt Lindsay’s ‘Trottingham Vale Light Railway’ (worth a quick search if you haven’t seen it!) so the chances are in the near future we’ll be seeing more of the area this railways runs through. :)
I saw it and though Octavia was leaving for a minute.
New headcanon: Octavia comes from a poor family in a remote mining village accessible only by small industrial railways (with or without small red dragons in their firebox) along rickety viaducts like something out of Laputa: Castle in the Sky. She is literally her mam and dad’s eighth daughter, and thus had to seek her fortune in Canterlot due to a lack of musical opportunity at home not involving choral singing or bugle solos.
It couuuuuld be. Oh wait, this is the artist who’s talking to me. :P
I just have an extreme bias towards the Talyllyn in the fact I grew up with the TTTE Series.
According to BtD’s description it’s based on Welsh narrow-gauge engines, which were the same inspiration for Wilbert Awdry, who wrote the Thomas books.
I’ve ridden that particular railway up into the hills, and it’s a delight.
Or it could just be that I happen to be a fan of the Talyllyn Railway, which was the basis for the ‘Skarloey’ railway. :P
