A statement like that depends pretty heavily on where you get your ideas of good and evil in the first place.

Still, a thirst for power can be urged on for all sorts of reasons, from the selfish to the relatively noble. I wonder what motivates Sunset in that direction, since we still haven’t been told…

You see digibronys Equestria girls review vid? He explains how sunsets never saw herself as evil ,but was extremely power hungry and used it as a justification for her actions because to,her power is all that matters until she is defeated by the magic of friendship. It is here she realizes that in her hunt for magic power she overlooked the most powerful one of all,Friendship. So all at once she realized that her hunt for power along with all the peoples she hurt for powers had been in vain ,this broke her (she never saw herself as evil) which explains her breakdown…also demon possession ,corruption that stuff yeah.

Her remorse was meant to be genuine, of that I have no doubt. When she was normal, she wouldn’t even consent to hurt Spike-dog, but in demon mode, she was about to blow Twilight to stardust. When she was returned to her usual form, I think the weight of everything she was about to do, along with the ramifications of her shift in paradigm, was more than enough to make her repentant.
