What’s in the box?
Well, Zap2It and some other sources got the slightly-wrong “Princess Twilight” title, possibly because it got changed very recently (remember when official sources were using both Cadance and Cadence?). When the AV Club reviewer wrote this article, instead of relying on their memory, they checked online to get the title of the episode, and grabbed it from Zap2It or some other source with the wrong title.
For me, I’m not really so much hyped, as much as I am nervous. I’m afraid of what they might do with the show. Then again, my fears could be unjustified and maybe Season 4 will be excellent.
Is it weird I’m not that super hyped for Season 4?
Well, that’s because the Elements of Harmony weren’t technically involved in those episodes, and we already know that the Elements are going to play a major part in this one.
Really, it sounds to me like you’re looking for a reason to hate the premier. The Crystal Empire was a Twilight-Centric episode, just like Sonic Rainboom and Wonderbolts Academy were a Rainbow-Centric Episodes, and Keep Calm and Flutter On and Hurricane Fluttershy were Fluttershy-Centric Episode.

You misunderstood what I said. She needed to get the band back together to stop Discord because they had the other Elements. The Elements needed all six of them to work.
In ACW and TCE, you could’ve replaced them with background characters and very little would’ve needed to change.
He didn’t get invited to a planning committee that he would have been bored at, and the way his character is would have made the plot of the episode impossible.
True, but that catalyst would not have been possible without her friends backing her up. By contrast, in McCarthy’s two parters, the other 5 really don’t do anything of consequence.

They were there to be living caricatures of their polar opposite that were wrangled up by Twilight and nothing more.

Yeah, but they Twilight was the one that basically figured out what the Elements were, and that what the others did allowed them to be activated. She’s the one that brought the entire group together, and made sure the others were actually able to do something useful in the first place. In Return of Harmony she’s the only one that really does anything notable against Discord, though with a little nudge from Princess Celestia.
Honestly, I don’t think having her be in the spotlight for a couple of episodes is any different from normal, especially since all of the Mane 6 get their share of episodes.
Could the roles of the other five have been filled by random background characters in RoH?
Isn’t that Return if Harmony?
