The “flight academy” is mentioned and Wonderbolts are shown, so that’s questionable.
I posted this before the episode 3, so only the two first episodes counted ^^.
As of Derpy, she just needs to appear (seeing how much we see her since season 3, it’s not likely that she gets another somewhat important role)
When you say Derpy, does she need to appear, or does she need to have an important role?

Like there is a “fandom favorite” that is going to get an official name on the show (which is different from the toys getting a name, as a character is actually mentioned by name in the script). As much as some of us would love to hear Derpy again, I’m betting it’ll be Vinyl Scratch or Octavia.

All unicorns are capable of using magic, but we’ve never seen Sweetie Belle use it on screen. And furthermore it was never indicated that a unicorn needed to be using their magic in order for the Forest to be able to suppress it, and be able to use that unicorn as a conduit.
Yes Rarity was using hers when it was suppressed, but that was to show what was happening to us.
The aura around her horn looked blue, I think it was somehow Rarity’s magic.
but rarity’s acted up when she was using her magic…doesn’t that mean in some way sweetie was using magic?
That wasn’t of her own free will. The Everfree’s magic was manipulating it. It shouldn’t count.
