The episode is told from Rainbow Dash’ point of view, and people go under the assumption that the other characters know and predict everything that is happening, everything we see as the audience, wich is not true.
 
Remember how none of them saw her trembling in Sonic Rainboom? Remember how she opted to steal before letting it be know that she liked reading? Rainbow Dash hides her feelings; and why would they assume she would feel like she did, unless they thought of her as inmature and selfish? Who goes around whinning about her self-esteem depending on saving lives, and expecting others to not save lives because of her self-esteem? Because that’s how some fans seem to think of Rainbow Dash.

Yeah… they should have left all those ponies die, that wouldn’t have destroyed her spirit at all, being responsible for the their deaths by not saving them for letting her ego get in the way… totally…

Why’s Fluttershy looking apprehensive? She was in on the thing. She helped. She should be jumping too, why isn’t she? Even ignoring all the other ways this misrepresents what happened, Fluttershy was part of the set-up.

^ I did notice, and I assumed that he was making a statement to the events in Lesson Zero and MMDW being similar. Which they aren’t. Perhaps I’m just not up to date on silly internet posting jokes though.

So the girls are together. One of them is feeling distraught because of something stupid. She expresses her feelings to the others. The others laugh and dismiss her feelings as stupid. She runs away, probably feeling angry and somewhat betrayed by her friends, and goes to do something idiotic.
 
But all ends well, as the distraught one learns her lesson, and the others realize their actions hurt their friends feelings, even if their friend was acting stupidly, and they show her they are sorry.
 
Oh wait..

It has been seven months since this episode aired and yet people are still writing fix fics and drawing comics about it. I only joined the herd in season two, but did FPK take this long for people to stop bitching about it?
