The sad thing is, like all bullies her aditude was most likely shaped over the span of her life. I’m not defending bullies of any kind but I do belive that most of them have a reason that they are such angry children. If I had to take a guess I’d say that DT was not always emotionally supported by her father who spent his time building his funds. Her snobish behaviour is likely a reflection of her parents and the materialistic goods used to sway her attention.
 
My point is that almost every story has an alternate side to it (Nelson from the Simpsons being one of my favourites). Does this justify their behaviour, absolutely not, but sometimes you have to relize that they would trade lives with you in a heartbeat.

She leans more on the Lawful Evil side. She does what she feels like what she can get away with. She only messes with the CMC when there are no authoritative figure around. When she did get in trouble (all two times) she complied with the punishment. She was afraid of being ratted out to her mother. Diamond Tiara  
doesn’t try to be superior to others she already is. Besides the CMC everybody is else is fine and looks like they listen to DT & SS. Also both of their attacks are directed to a certain type of ponies. Doesn’t sound like sociopaths to me. Even if the only reason is she does what she does is for asshole kid reasons.
 
You know is funny how fans treat mean characters in MLP. Super Villain? They have their reasons. Not nice characters? Literally Hitler. Except Gilda

Why can’t she be more like Peach?

To me, Diamond Tiara is the epitome of Neutral Evil. A completely and utterly sadistic and selfish sociopath only concerned with getting her way and being superior to everyone else, no matter what the cost may be to them.
 
And going by some of the comments here- how can anyone, anyone like her? To date, she is probably the only character in the whole show that I don’t dislike, but outright despise.

It’s canon, right? That’s what everyone sees when they see the show right? Clearly Silver Spoon was forced to say all the meanest things so Diamond would have a scapegoat.

Funny. The worst bullies I’ve known came from midde/lower middle class families.  
And part of the reason why they were bullies was because their parents as well as their teachers encouraged them.

Did you see the way she clapped her hooves together and said “And I mean crush!” in s4e5. She seemed a little evil.
 
Has any other character in the show has demonstrated such a persistant mean spirit? Her family probably migrated from tartarus
