Background Pony #4C71
So I was starting the next semester of my sophomore year at the University of Wisconsin after getting home from Christmas break. I got back way early because my dad was pissed that I hadn’t gotten a job on break.

All that was on the T.V. was awful bowl games, and I could be bored at home or bored at college where my PS3 was, so I gathered my stuff up two weeks early.

I called up my R.A. and he said it was cool if I came back early. He’d slip the permission slips under my door, and that there were a couple of other kids back early, even though “officially” they couldn’t be there. It was all cool though.

So, I get back, and the building is pretty cold. I put away most of the Christmas stuff that I brought back with me, some games, some clothes, and this big Brony Blanket that my friend on Tumblr had made for me.

My roommate wasn’t a Brony, but he had caught me watching a few episodes online, and he had seen me laughing at pics on Derpibooru. He was cool with it, and we joked about it from time to time. I thought that he would get a kick out of seeing me with the Brony Blanket on my bed.

I was glad that I had brought it though, because the building was really cold. I think they had the heat down during vacation, and it wasn’t even very comfortable. It was so clod that as I played my PS3 I had to stop and blow on my hands.

I was actually thinking of going back to my car and sitting in the heat, just driving around town with the heat on, when I heard someone in the hallway. I was hoping it was the R.A. so I could ask him about the heat.

I peeked out into the hall, and it was one of the girls from the apartment down the hall.

It wasn’t just any girl, it was the girl who had asked me to “skip” with her on the first day of classes. Like, really, she was skipping down the hallway singing a Katy Perry song,

“Omigosh! It’s! So! Cold!” she said, leaping down the hall and right up to me. “Isn’t it, like, so cold??” No wonder she was cold. She was only wearing a pajama set with an anime character on it and some ankle socks.

This girl. This. Girl. She was all of five feet tall. She had this shoulder-length strawberry blonde hair that came up in those bounces (waves?). She always smiled. I was sure that I had never seen her not smiling.

“Hey, whatdidya get for Christmas? Eeeee! Is that a Pony blanket!” she called, and just went straight in my room and right to my bed. Before I could even say anything she was lifting up my Brony Blanket and calling out all of their names. “Ohmigosh it’s Pinkie and Fluttershy and Rarity and Spike and Twilight and Applejack and Dash! I love it and I’m wearing it and you can’t make me stop!”

With that, she wrapped herself in my Brony Blanket and sat down on the floor next to where I’d been playing on my PS3.

She asked me if I was a Brony, and as I played the game she watched and we talked about Pony stuff (Her favorite was Fluttershy).

So it’s getting late, and I order a pizza, and when the guy comes even he thinks it’s cold in the building. She wears my Brony Blanket as we eat, and I tell her that she looks like a mouse sneaking out from under a rug to sneak some food.

She spends the rest of the meal squeaking at me.

Squeaking. At. Me.

We’re almost done, and she puts her fee under the blanket and against me to warm her feet.

Warming. Herself. On. Me.

So, it’s cold, and the cold air is coming in from the hallway. I stand up to get her my sweatshirt, and when I door she closes the door.

“Is that okay? You’re okay with that?” I ask, handing her my sweatshirt and a pair of my socks.

“What,” she says, “you afraid I’m gonna rape you or something?” She giggles, GIGGLES, as she lifts the sweatshirt, and I see her navel for a second as she lowers it over her, and then she disappears back beneath my Brony Blanket.

It gets dark really early, and I can tell she isn’t into my game, and it’s only about 8p.m., but the dorm is quiet. It’s cold, but closing the door is keeping some of the heat in. “My Pony blanket,” she says, smiling at me.

Smiling. At. Me.

“Well, I guess you can borrow it tonight, but please…”

“I get to sleep with Fluttershy and Pinkie!” she called, and then she jumped on my bed.

She. Jumped. On. My Bed.

My eyes went wide as she wrapped herself up in the Brony Blanket, and then peeked out at me from underneath. Her giggles filled my little dorm room.

She wiggled around, giggling some more, and then the little, giggly, smiling, five-foot-tall girl in her pajamas who was on my bed… lifted the Brony Blanket, offering me a place to snuggle up for the night, to keep warm…

The spaghetti spilled out of my pockets, running down my jeans in tomatoey, tangled curls.
